i also agree with sqeezy to a point but it always turns into a person bashing thread. i just don't agree with that.
I don't have an opinion on pool_life as i don't know him never played him and don't know how good or bad his moderating was so i don't have a say.

I think the big issue here is that dissagreements about staffing issues should be dealt with via the "contact us" system, as they have nothing to do with other users.
We have plenty of say in the way choices are made about the site.
However it would be fundimentally wrong for members to have a say in who does or does not become a mod/admin.
Its this simple : should you board a plane and accept that the pilot is the best man for the job, despite that you met him one night and had a dissagreement, because he was chosen by the airline based on his skill and qualifications? Or do you decide that one of your mates deserves to be the pilot and thus risk everyone's enjoyment of the flight?

I feel the direction of this thread is going off course, probably mostly my fault, can people please post their opinions about the way that threads are managed and the effect that it has on the users and the site.

OK Squeezy, excellently handled.
I think the way the threads are handled are excellent.
Irrelevant offensive posts (by them i mean out of context with the thread) are deleted, but if a whole thread becomes personal or offensive it is deleted.
Many sites would also ban users on the basis of anti-staff posts, but funkypool prefers to give people a chance.
I have worked on many "forums" since the old BBS days and this is the most open, well run, well moderated "meeting place" I know of.
Its like the UK table. Dont change a thing!

spinner have you noticed everything stays on track until you post, i have a feeling you should work on the way you present your ideas because your come off as not a friendly person who can coverse easily without arguing. martin has done a great job handling this and has won me over as a fan definitely, and squeezy's done a more than amazing job at keeping this thead going in the right direction. your quote.."However it would be fundimentally wrong for members to have a say in who does or does not become a mod/admin. " are we not the people the moderators will be looking after....i think we are the people who SHOULD have a say in the choosing.

I apologise if anything i have said is awkward, but as i have said before, english is not my first language so i may ramble a bit at times!
It comes back to the pilot analogy.
The mods/admins are here to look after the site for Nick, and as such no-one other than he and his team can make such decisions.
However, as Squeezy said, that is not the topic of this thread, which is peoples opinions on how the mods and admin handle the threads posted here, and the effect on users of the site.
As such, i think they perform impeccably as stated above.

A lot of good points in this thread, and a nice sensible discussion!
We don't actually remove many threads, most threads that are removed are nonsense threads.
If the opinion is based on the game then it will be left. See many threads regarding advert problems for instance.
However, I think an unsubstantiated attack on a member (be it staff or not) is correctly removed. What opinion was there? That he should or should not be an admin? I don't see much constructiveness in that.
Being a staff member you're on a hiding to nothing in any case. Starting off with a bad reputation because of personal issues with 1 or 2 users is not beneficial. In any case the moderating record in question is exemplary. Remember this is someone who gives up his free time to look after the website, at least allow a chance before complaining about the decision!
