I know it would take a bit of coding, but is there any chance the abandoned games statistic could be updated to only include games left early (via the confirmation button), as opposed to those ended due to dropping connection?

If not, i'm gonna have nasty lookin stats soon!

(By the way, i dont care about loosing rank, in fact double the rank lost for leaving!)

Unfortunately not. If it did allow different stats for people having internet disconnected it would open the way for people to deliberately disconnect their internet connection to avoid gaining abandoned games.

Also, the measure of abandoned games shows the reliability of the opposing player. There is many ways that people may gain an abandoned game despite being an honest player, eg:
- PC crashes
- Network failure
- Having to close game early because boss walks by
- Something comes up eg phone, door etc

I have the same problem as you as my internet connection is unreliable at times.

There are people that have left upto 21 games early since this came into effect, so don't worry about 1 or 2 games.

My service provider just changed hands with another company, so my connection has gone from a 512kbps to 6.1mbps, and all for free.

Only problem is i have now is a connection which can go down at anytime it chooses, sometimes up to 5 times a day! Fingers crossed it usually let's be reconnect straight away, but there are times when it seems i have no option other than to restart my computer.


Anyway, my point is that I’m also expecting the odd abandoned game. As much as i want the clean record i realize it's just a matter of time until i become a member of the abandoned game club.

So Spinner, you are not alone on this one! It's just one of those things to be honest, and I’m personally giving my connection 1 week to settle before i reach for the phone!! Until then I’m happy that other players can tell the difference between a serial leaver and somebody having the odd bit of trouble.

Over time, regular leavers will get a reputation.

On this subject Nick - does the abandoned game feature have to include tournament games?

Leaving a tourny game can't be of any benefit to the leaver, and is usually done out of courtesy - for instance - I left one because during my game I discovered I wouldn't have time to complete the tourny, so thought it unfair to knock my opponent out.

Overall, I think the new feature is excellent and has eliminated all problems at once. This is a small point I know, but unlike in any other situation - tourny game leavers are generally doing it for good reasons.

Hey martin_blank, remember one of the reasons a player might leave was to deny opponents getting a run out / seven balling achievement.

I think as a fix to the tournament problem the time limit should increase, although however long it is there will always be a small percentage of matches which don't end in time.

Maybe there should be an "offer to concede game to opponent" which is available at any time. Then the opponent can accept or decline. Although I'm inclined against this as an option.

About that runout problem, i always thought it would be a good idea to be able to continue play AFTER your opponent has left UNTIL you miss or clear up, either way you get the win but you have the opportunity to still gain a runout.

pool life are you with orange which used to be wanadoo? i goty upgraded but my connection keeps going off too! They said its cos i dont filter everything through or my speedtouch thing is faulty. Some indian guy who couldnt understand me. Its well annoying though and it effects my xbox 360 online lol!

i get kinda hurt by this abandonment thingy. i dont care bout the points either however i cant tell people that my ambulance will leave after i beat/loose this game
