10 seconds is fine, reducing it anymore would create more problems if anything.

I can see it now..."I joined a game, but i didn’t see it said 5 secs until after i agreed to play. This is not fair, how am i supposed to play in that short time!!"

Anyway, that's what i think. This is becoming a bit like 'Groundhog Day'...

I've said it many times before, its not a criticism, and wont affect anyone who doesnt want it, but lets those of us who enjoy quick games have the chance to play them here, instead of going to other sites.

Surely that can only be an advantage!

(and regarding the "how can i play in that short a time" issue, apart from the fact you should check a game stats before entering, like i have also said before, just play pool, but without the extra stuff you have to do to fill up 10 seconds! its a long time when you only need 3 secs max to shoot! in excess of 66% too long!)

Hey, its just a chat subject! After all theres nothing else can possibly be done to improve the game without adding billiards! :-D

I regard anything less than 10 seconds as a novelty!

It might be fun to see how well you can do under such a constrained time limit, but 'most' serious pool players require more time. Even 10 seconds can be a push at times!

Like i said before, and this is not a dig at you Spinner, some people look like they need more time when you look at their rank.

Are you saying that reducing the limit to below 10 seconds could seriously improve somebody’s game? Or are you saying it would just be a laugh?

Reducing the time, like it does on other sites (and i wont mention that issue again, but most pool sites i have played have some sort of quick game feature, some as low as 3secs), whilst it is promarily to make the game more fun and less boring, has the obvious effect of seperating those with raw skill from those clinical people who measure angles and figure out the trigonometry on paper before each shot!

I know thats an extreme way of putting things, but a skillfull player doesnt need copius aamounts of time, as the shots are all planned well in advance anyway.

But finally, why loose players to other sites who offer the chance to play like this when it (should, i guess) be as simple as altering a variable...

I can't see people defecting in droves to be honest, and the ever-increasing numbers back that up.

I suppose it's something you could take or leave, so it's just a case of whether Nick considers it to be a worthy feature to add.

I will say this, if there were a 'Lightening Tournament' of some kind, i would enter. But you wouldn’t catch me in any regular game below 10 seconds, ranked or friendly. I'm not a pool connoisseur by any stretch of the word, but i do like some time to consider how not to make a ridiculous shot.

When I play yahoo pool I don't ever enter a game unless the timer is under 20 seconds, 6 second games are the norm

If you wanna play shorter games then take your shots quicker, and ur opponent can have the time they want, every1's happy.

I've had some1 time mein a tourny once, i had every shot in one frame in under 2 seconds apart from the black which I took 4 secs on

Dispite this i think a shorter time limit limit would be a good addition to the site and I'd like to see it happen.

Oh it wont cause people to defect away from here, but i have a few friends on *the other site* who would definitely make funkypool thier main place of play if they could play quick games here too.

As spinner said, its another option, so if nobody wants to use it, then they don't have to.

I would certainly like to make use of a 5 second game or so, as it would stop me browsing other sites mid-game, and turn a 6 minute game into a 2 minute game.

And pool_life, I like the idea of a lightening tournament also!

lol if this comes out i would like to see who is first to moan about the flukey pots people are getting cus they jus smack the ball cus they got no time to line up and position

10 seconds is long enuf because you can take ya shot in 5 seconds anyway , and what is a 10second wait any?... not like its a long time like 140 seconds for a shot

If you enter a game with a 5 second timer then you should be prepared for the probability of more flukes.
If you're not then your likely to be an idiot, or the sort of person who moans about everything, meaning if it wasn't about short timers it would be about something else.

Put them in i think, its an added option.
