just had this idea of a golden break system / rule

what about an option when creating a game to accept golden breaks as rank wins ,

if the option is selected and a golden break occurs then they can get rank from it , if they dont select it , it still puts a golden break on there profile , and counts as a win but no rank gained or lost ,

im sure many people will agree and disagree but i am thinking of both sides

seems fair.......but your still gonna get people leaving if the opponent selects the no points option on a GB.
No matter what happens there will always be dissagreements..........personally i think potting the black off the break means loss of game

This is a fine idea, especially if the real life GB rules (re-spot) are introduced, so that if someone does get a GB they still have to carry on with the game or loose rank.

they just dont join games with golden break points off then simple as its liek you dont join friendlys if all you wanna play for is rank.

and you are correct tidnab , potting black off break is a loss in the official pool rules

Yeah i think this is a good idea!....this could possibly cause people to stop complaining if they lost lots of rank because the other person did a GB, as they themselves chose to allow it.

I like the idea too. But I agree with bandit really.
As good as perfection's idea is, don't think it's a good idea to overcomplicate things.

The GB's were fine until ppl sussed them, and so now best to revert to official rules. Or, make it a respot - so as not to discourage attacking breaks.

Yeh it seems like a good colution to the problem

I personally feel the golden break should be SCRAPPED!! this golden break has caused problems throughout the gaming part of the site and what should actually happen is that if your opponent does get a so called golden break then the game should simply be re-racked. For me golden breaks arent an interest golden breaks show me that you arent able to win your opponent properly so you go for glory which does get boring nd unfair to your opponent.

id like to hear your thoughts about this theory

yea its a good idea perfection its harsh people loosing from this rule,and hairy i think ur point is even better just scrap it would probably be the best idea,it shouldnt decide a game,it happens in finals and everything so id be for scrapping it aswell.

Regardless, The idea of another button to press would add unneccassary complication. Especially if the start-game button is successsful. Thing of someone completely new to the game; they would probably give up before the break!
Personally I've stopped trying for those breaks because I'm embarassed when I pull it off and I have to apopogise.

I think that the only way to solve this is to either leave it as it is or take the golden break out of the game and have it as a re-rack and not a win.

Is it spinner ? I thought it was a loss. Oh well. Respot all round for me then

Instead of "so_so loses to martin_blank who potted the black on a Golden Break (or whatver it is)" lets have:

SO_SO LOSES TO MARTIN_BLANK WHO CHEATED

i personally thought allow them to count as a win in friendlies, re-spot in ranked games and tournaments.

I personally would find that confusing mike because people would be having to change their breaking position for different games

i still think they shud go on ur account but if u do one but you dont win its a re-rack. oh my god in the middle of typin this while in tourny 1-1 and i got knocked out by a golden break ffs and i aint jokin
