100% agreed - however setting 10 points is unnecessary, just a standard loss would be suffecient..

what about -5 if you leave a game after the 1st shot taken,this will stop joiners and immediate leavers

Well maybe i like playing high rankers so i get more points if i win, it is relavent, if you want to get rid of the 3 ball rule then you need a game start button or something!

There is no three ball rule on 9 ball .... Use them rules... leaving games-wise..

The only problem with the 9ball rule is it doesnt stop the "no GB so i'm leaving" problem.
Certainly, use the same rules, but have the game start at break.
A 5 sec delay before you can place the cue ball would seem simplest.
However, Nick has said on the other thread that this area is being worked on, so i guess its time to wait and see how he deals with it!

I agree with that one spinner .. lets wait and see whats happening , at the end of the day its what nick wants he gets . If he thinks that a game start button is the best idea he will give it a lil try and see how it works .
But i still dont like the " hide user id " idea . Maybe it could be a feature , but not a full time thing .
erm ... 700975561 i think the reason you want people too lose alot of rank for leaving is because you are a low ranker and are "left" alone quite abit when joining games etc . I think that in the other thread you said they stick around to see how the break ends up .. I think its they have seen your rank and are leaving whilst your breaking and your getting mixed signals

He's not getting mixed signals atall if people are leaving because of his rank!
I wasnt suggesting hiding someone's ID, only thier rank. This would prevent people pre-judging players based on what is, after all, just a number, and letting them base judgement by thier gameplay instead.
Sure, after a while, you will get to know people, but thats the fun of the game!
When you're playing down the pub, people dont have numbers stuck to thier back!

Yes i know what you mean but we could go on all day ... People will end up either setting a big time and then searching for there rank and then leaving or just print off the top 50 players etc and only play them . Most players who dont play under rankers are the high rankers

The time shouldnt be configurable... you enter a game, have 5 secs to leave, then game on.. This is not shot time, its a pre-break pause to let people leave if they want to.

force, i don't WANT anyone to lose rank at all, whether i have a low ranking or not is not the issue. All i want is to play the game. We didn't hear Liverpool say " err, we're not playing west ham in the FA cup final cos they're not as good as us and are lower in the league table and don't have as many points"
As i've said before a game is a game, no matter how many points you have.
i dont want to gain the points the player MAY lose, just take the points

yes but like most people i would like to gain as much rank points as i can and if you play people who are alot lower in rank than you ,you don't gain as much rank points

funkjunki wait till u get ur rank up a bit & play lower rank you'll see why ppl like 2 know who there playing as lower rank beating higher rank kills ur rank any there r some lucky low ranked ppl on this

rangers & paddy - can I ask you - do u actually LIKE playing funkypool? Do you actually enjoy it? Only reasons i ask is:
1) You worry continually about who you play, in case you lose points.
2) You have both been cited in the 'break and leave' row. Break & leave isn't about fun, it's a tedious drawn out attempt to gain points without risking losing them.
3) You, paddy, are so keyed up you find it impossible to show any form of balance and manners wen beaten. I don't include rangers in that, who seems a decent bloke.
So...are you enjoying yourselves, cos u seem pretty serious and stressed about it all to me

Sorry - my last post was pointless. Completely went off the point. It's just that when I read u 2's posts I realise u r on a completely different planet to most of us.

No.
I think rank should be displayed next to user names on game rooms so that nobody need ever enter a room without knowing the occupant's rank again.
And I think that GB's should now be a respot. It was a gr8 idea at first, but now ppl have ruined it by finding ways to abuse the system.

I dont think your post was pointless atall Martin, i hope Rangers/Paddy and any other GB people reply so we can try to undestand thier views.
It seems to have been totally overlooked that you can easily see someone's rank at any time by viewing thier profile, thats what the view information button is for! I know it takes a click, but if anyone is that bothered by rank they will do it. There never has been a reason to enter a room not knowing someones rank.
I still dont understand why we dont just keep rank out of it till after a game, that way there is nothing for anyone, whether they care about rank or not, to be bothered about...
And finally, yes, ANYONE leaving a game for ANY reason after the break, should have it recorded as a loss and rank deducted.
