I think they'll stay up, and I wouldn't be surprised if they have a good run in the cup.

I put too-much-money on Pompey winning the premiership a couple of season ago - but with a 35 point handicap (so they had to finish no more than 35 points behind champions for bet to win) which I thought was a good bet. I think Chelsea were 35 points ahead of them by Christmas!

The bookies seem to think we're not favourites to go down. Charlton, Wigan, Reading, Sheff Utd, and the play off winner are all stronger candidates to go down. Villa and Fulham are on the same odds as us.

We're also investing about 30 million pounds in players this year, money doesn't always guarantee success, but with 3 or 4 quality additions we will not go down.

As for celebrating staying up in the Premiership each team has different targets. We were all but relegated beginning of March, staying up therefore was and is a great achievement from that point. If we were relegated it would mean our favourite players would have left, maybe a delay in the new stadium, and for me as an expat it would mean much less television coverage. Now it means continued TV money coming in of around 20 million per year.
