Imagine an 8 year old walking down local high streets.... he sees advertising from a bookies, off licences advertising alcohol, garages advertising cars (imagine how many people he would hurt if he drove a car), Ann Summers advertising lingerie, etc etc. We could start a revolution to close down all these shops!

I guess so, i dont mind the other stupid ones for loans e.t.c. I just thought advertising adult, or rather grown up chat places on a "child" site was like going against the "company strategy"

well its not just a child site is it? theres plenty of adults here too.......
Theres a lot more 'non child freindly' goings on in chat and game play as people use ways of swearing without the filter detecting which in my book is unessasary.
But thats the internet for you, Im sure the admin team here do as much as they technically can to filter out nasty language and abuse

If parents allow their children to come on a site like this, which has a chat room, then its upto them. It isnt down to nick. He is simply trying his best to get the funds to make this site better. At the end of the day you can always block ads or certain sites on your computer at home if you think your children could click an ad which isnt appropriate. There are a lot worse examples than this and i think the system of moderators and admin do a good job in trying to control things on a rapidly growing site. I personally cant believe how narrow minded and petty some people can be. What should the adverts be? "join your local church"? oh no cos then you would be accused of trying to force religion on people...Keep up the good work i say, nothing wrong with this site.

Octacon, clearly you're being very naiive to not realise that adverts are all around you, and children are immersed in adverts all the time.

If you're on a prudish morale crusade (a la Mary Whitehouse) there are much more relevant targets, where children are targetted by the adverts (eg McDonalds).

This clearly is not the case here.

Ah to heck with it, let's go on a clean up crusade and start with complaining about dating adverts on a chat and pool site

im sorry but i have 2 aggree with nick completly kids are exposed to a lot more just walkin donw the highstreet so a little advert aint gunna hurt them is it so stop being daft if u dont like the adverts find a diff site cuz there aint no point in moaning about 1 little advert of a non sexually expilict nature now is there but i do challenge you to find a better FREE site than funkypool cuz i dont think it can be done as nick has put so much time in to the games delevoplment and people dont appreciate it and its just stupid
