How about an option to ignore all PMs except those of friends. Means less pestering, but that mates that want to get hold of you for a game, still can...

There is an option for you to ignore PMs while competing. Basically it blocks messages from everyone while you're playing a game, with the exception of friends and moderators.

Nick, Ive tried to pm friends while they have been in a game and it still says Blah Blah ignores all pm's while competing even tho we are on each others friends list !! ( Tidnab can vouch for this )
Swing, do you mean ignore ALL guests And members, unless they are on ur friend list? If so i think its a good idea too..........

I can sort of vouch for it JSG as i tried it with beannie..... when i sent a PM,it had that message ignore PMs while competing, perhaps i wasnt on her freinds list at the time??
Anyways...........I have selected the option to ignore PMs while competing , but people on freinds list can PM me as you often do JSG, which isnt a problem to me cos people on freinds list dont go annoying you with asl and abuse.

No! I have pm'd you when ur in a game and it says ur ignoring while competing! You are on my friend list tho so shud i be able to get a response from you?? oh i dunno how it works Ha hahaha........

If I were to set "ignore PMs while competing" then, while in games, I would be ignoring everyone except people on my friend list.

If you see a message "nick ignores messages while competing" it would mean you were not on my friend list.

its not always a bad idea to completely ignore registered users that are not on the freinds list cos you never know they maybe freindly at the end of the day if a registered user PMs you and is not freindly then (annoying as it can be) theres always the ignore function.

The ignore function covers this. If players are annoying you by talking in the chat window, press ignore user and you will no longer see it.

Yes but that means they cant PM me either! (which is fine)

"endless pop up PM windows" are easier, you can just look at them when you are free so they wont be distracting when in a game..

I decided to leave the quarter finals of a tourney today because of constant hassling in the game window.

Both my opponent and a friend of his who were watching were chatting to me fine on PM's, but openly and deliberately typing in the game window to distract me.

I know people would suggest "ignore" but that would mean i couldnt chat to them via the PM's.

This really need to be sorted. There is absolutely no reason for anyone to chat in that window when there is a perfectly good, unobtrusive, PM system.

This is the one thing that is spoiling the site now, and has done for a long time.

Why would you want to talk to them via a pm if there annoying you in the game window?

I don't see any problem with talking in the main chat box.

I wouldn't be suprised if people say you cheat because of this, no offence to you but thats what this site is like.

Because in the PM windows they were both chatting away normally, and they were arguably right by saying it was within the rules of the game to incessantly type in the game window to distract me.

And yes, I have had people say stupid things like "stop cheating" etc, yet they go and type that in the GAME window, instead of the CHAT box! Admittedly these are mostly immature types who have also learned so s W e A r etc..

Incredibly frustrating, though there never seems to be a solution forthcoming.
