hi game m8s,
i got an idea... what about adding carambolage
(3 balls without holes) to this community?
please look up the game and rules in the web.
im sure the admins can easily integrate this game
in funkypool - but an intelligent rules and points
system has to be worked out e.g. how often
to hit the border (normally 3 times).

carambole billards to funkypool - are u interested?

To add another game, ruleset and rankings is relatively simple.

The most serious problem would be the requirement to use a different table graphic, ie a table without pockets. This would increase the game size further, as currently the entire game is packaged in 1 downloadable file.

Can the game be played on a table with pockets, ie the current UK or US table?

overview of the game carambole.

it is played on a 10 ft x 5 ft table without holes.
there r 3 balls on it. one player has the white, the
other the yellow ball for his playball. with one shot
he has to hit both of the other balls to get a point.
this is called a carambolage. before finishing the
carambolage, 3 or more cushions have to be hit.
if this is successfully done, the player goes on,
otherwise the opponent takes turn.
normally 1 game is played to 20 points, the player
who reached wins. this game is well known by the
trickshots, worldbest players do.

I see the game size prob nick but...

If u integrate that game, ur pool community
will be the best, complete, and physically
correctest game worldwide !

to be honest i dont think it would get many more members, and billiards gets boring after a while.

im thinkin how the hell do ya play this game :S

On subject of 3-ball, in US a really popular bar game is dollar-3-ball.
Player breaks and has to sink 3balls in as few shots as poss (inc breakshot), with a max of six attempts.
Next player does same. Game can be played by 2 players upwards, and winner is player who pots all three in fewest shots.

(If six shots taken without potting all 3 by way, player out of round).

Popular in bars cos a bit like killer - played on normal pool table, few players and a dollar entry.

but that game is pointless, as its so easy

we re talking about carambole, and this is definately
called the king of billards, coz its very hard to do the 3 cushions before finishing a carambolage shot, so remind: sense of this forum is to post ur opinion, if carambole should be added to funkypool or not. thx

Carambole sounds like good game, but (as per nick's response) requires a different table so not easy. Texan's 'US 3-ball' also good, DOESN'T require a new table, and adds a multi-game dimension.

so much players view this thread and no one posts his interest in a new game.

its a dead post ... no ones interested ... like nick said if another game was intraduced so soon then it would make things difficult because of the size ... wait until more of the up and coming features are introduced i personally ythink they are more important than hitting a ball around a table with no pockets

why do u think there r world championships in carambole billards? its a difficult and interesting game, called king of billards.
First inform urself about this game then build up ur opinion. Or do u belong to those people who say: "i dont know it, its boring and silly". this people r called "conservative".
I only wanted to make a useful suggestion to this site thats all.
and the size problem:
there will be created a new domain for carambole, if people r interested. Same thing with funkypool and funkysnooker.

so first inform urself, then we can save such posts.

Im only posting to "inform" you of the changes that need to be made to the site before a new game is introduced . it took nick long enough to create snooker and for the record hes just created 3 more new games ...US Pool , US 9 Ball & Arcade Snooker .

If the post goes dead leave it and bring it up l8r in the month or something .

seems that u know exactly what nick thinks. ur right that there is a lot of work but... nick wanted me to post this thread after talking about carambole, so it is not ur decision if this thread is important or not. And it is not ur or our decision which changes r made or which domains r coming up.
Dont influence this thread - u posted ur opinion, thats ok. leave it now open for other players to say if it ll be nice to have an additional game in the future.

So to all our game mates, feel free, what is ur opinion? will it be nice to have a game like carambole in this community or in an additional domain in the future?
