ruddan_06_ has got it spot on with his answer of losing the remote. Hence my last clue, which involved listing a few buttons you might find on a remote control. What kept you all so long!!!! Losing the remote is an absolute tragic problem especially when you think you've got the place and the telly to yourself over the weekend only for that to happen. Or at least in my sad tragic life.

I'm a bit drunk, by the way. And feeling a bit off with myself.
