Just a note so that Admin is aware that my organisation's (scottish local government by the way) internet access has from today blocked funkypool at all times

Many of us used to play at lunchtimes and before/after hours but no more. The filtering system being used is BESS, so maybe Nick would like to give em a shout..

So, since lag prevents me playing anything meaningful at home this is also my farewell to a game i have enjoyed since the pool sharks days.. Damn frustrating too since i have waited since then for 9ball and all!

Er, you didnt read my post did you! The web is blocked during working hours so we could never play then...

Was simply trying to point out that major corporate filters are now stopping funkypool. I had a word with IT (many of whom played as well) and it is because of the amount of sexual and racist content bandied about in the "front" chatroom.

A real shame, but thought Nick ought to know!

Use a CGI Proxy service.

http://www.vtunnel.com is one.
http://3proxy.org is another one.

There's a netsweeper block + a squid guard on my school from the council + the ICT technicians. But using that gets past anything

If the game window's blocked you might have some trouble playing tho But u can always become a forum junkie

Haha i'm not that worried, new comp bits on the way so hopefully be able to play at home again soon.

Sittin alone in the office till all hours just to play meant i was hardly home anyways! Gonna miss the 23" screen tho!

I can still play funkysnooker on nights when i'm stuck in anyways..

Spinner sorry to hear you have been blocked at work,I read ur post with interest, does it mean you can only use the home page for the forums and if you try to enter a game it wont allow the pop up window? Or can you get into a game and it then locks up on you?

Its just iam having problems using the game in my lunch hour (which we are allowed to use internet in 'our time')
Im not expecting anyone to solve my problem i suspect its a memory problem which iam trying to resolve with my supplier as its under contract, its long story i wont go into it lol

The site was completely blocked, and my forum posts were all from home. But as of today it is now open again! Seems the IT guys got on to the filtering supplier..

Apperently it was blocked because of the language and racism noticed on the game page chat bar by a monitor somewhere. This i understand.

Chances are if its not allowing you to play the game that java is disabled or something?

Anyway, its good to be back!!!!

Its alright spinner , you'll get over it . I dont think its healthy for any grown man to be playing an online game full time . Its not good for eyes , brain , sanity or reputation . Give it a couple of months and upgrade to broadband . You will get more of a "thrill" to be back on and then you will be hooked again . Like most adults on here .

Force - the lag experienced by some players (inc me obviously!) has nothing to do with the internet connection, its the flash ad's that slow the browser to a crawl. I did experiment with Firefox which was better, but is so insecure and unstable i had to remove it.

I still check occasionally and if it happens to be a gif i'll sneak a quick game..
