who in your opinion who are the greatest guitarists and bassists ever?

i personally don't think you can say that there is one guitarist/bassist that rises above all others in all areas of playing. Any guitarist/bassist that is even though of, must be awsome. Everyone is superb in their own respect and all excel in areas and all have weaknesses.

errmm why isnt jimi hendrix up there

Hendrix and Satriani were on there, but my post was too long, so had too cut them out as i think all the other are better that them two. Well i don't, i lied, i don't like their music as much as the others. Both brilliant musicians though.

best guitarist has got to be Joe Satriani and/or Tony Iommi they are in ther own class

best bass player???? Steve Harris from iron maiden
Sid vicious did a good job even tho he couldnt really play, but you can blag ur way thru punk bass lines

Hendrix was a showman he never did play guitar upside down but he is a legend no doubt

and too add best drummer?? has to be the late Cozy Powell from deep purple/Rainbow etc also ginger baker from cream saw a re union of them on tv and for a 60+ with double bass drum he is sooooo smooth he gets better with age

i can play a pretty good rift too

iv got a few fave guitar/bassists cos i listen 2 a wide range of music, but my top five guitarists in no real order are Hendrix, Bolan ( he wernt a gr8 player but his music was brilliant), yngwie malmestein hus the quickest guitarist in the world (24 notes a second), angus young, and the much underrated george harrison.

as for bassists it has to be either phil lynott or john mcvie.
and me fave drummer has to be the legendary keith moon

Best guitarist is John Petrucci from Dream Theater.

Best bassist is John Myung from Dream Theater. He uses a 6 string bass and can play it like a lead guitar.

Yeah Dream Theater are my all time favourite band. Been to a few of their concerts. These guys are awesome.
