wouldn't moderators be better being invisible in the rooms, all the abuse stops the second a mod enters a room and starts the second the they leave
if ppl didn't know if a mod was there or not they'ed have no choice but to act their age
the amount of abuse aimed a ppl just for saying "hello" in members bar is crazy sometimes

Maybe if they could choose to 'hover' over a room but be visible if they choose to be.

or not be announced when they enter and join at the bottom of the peep list out of sight

When im playing i log on as two guests to moderate the chat room and guest club while playing. I warn in pm if there is trouble.

Yeh i had an idea a while back to maybe have an option that they can remove their stars, so that they dont appear at the top a the user list. Would be very useful me thinks!

The reason why this doesn't sit well with the admins is because moderators are meant to help. If people don't know that they are there then how are they meant to help.

A way that both things could be done is to divide the moderating team.

Site Problems and questions staff.
Site Discipline staff.

I think they explain what it is they'd do in the name.

More experianced members of the staff could be site problems, less experianced would deal with discipline.

The site problem staff would have the stars, however the disciplenary staff would not. This means that less users will ask the disciplenary staff for information about the site and this will also help the site problem staff to be more efficient in helping users.

I think this might be worth looking into, tell me what you think. :-)

Not enough moderators come online for it, but it is a good idea.

If the site problems and question moderators don't have the power to boot people will still abuse while they are in there.

Both sets will have the power to boot, but that wont be their main reason for being there.

Also i think you should have it so you can choose what type of moderator to find.

Would help alot.

Moderator's are there to help newer users not just boot people. If no-one knew who they were, how can they message them for help. But I see your idea basha, maybe if they were invisible to guests only it would work better. However I'm not sure how difficult it would be to make happen.....

I thought that too, just guests unable to see them, but then i remembered, it was a member giving me abuse (well, being rude) last night, so its not just the guests that they need to be invisable too.....
And whoever said it 1st....."if they are invisable,how would we know they are here"...

The point is to try and recruit as many moderators as you can so there is always somebody online, especially at peak user times like 4:00pm and 7:00pm uk time.

Mattaus was a great choice and it's nice to see him around at times that were not usually covered by other moderators.

I don't think a time rota is needed as such, just flood the site with trusted moderators and everything else will fall into place.

I have noticed one moderator has not logged on since the 10th, another the 24th and another the 1st of january.
