Ronaldo is the obvious choice right now, partly because we see him play every week, partly because of how well United are playing, and partly because he's just on fire.

But what about Kaka? His form is just as good as Ronaldo's, but he's pulling it off while being surrounded mostly by underperformers. Without him, Milan would be in serious trouble this season.

p.s. This has nothing to do with a certain semi-final. I'm a United fan hoping he takes a sudden drop in form.

Perhaps Squeezy. Clean sheets are team efforts but are gained by defenders more than midfielders or strikers. A defender with more clean sheets than another is obviously playing a big part in keeping those clean sheets. Therefore a better defender.

As far as your point about Ronaldo looking average without the team around him. He has created more goals than anyone else through assists! And is almost at the top of the topscorers also!! All from midfield!!!!

After Leo Messi's goal the other night I would have to go for him.

I still don't think ronaldo is a better player than gerrard or a few other midfielders.

Both Gerrard and Ronaldo are good but I know which one of the two i'd want in a cup final though. Gerrard brings to his team more than any other midfielder I can think of.

Pele is still the best player though, on seeing his 1000th league goal I decided never to stray from this view point either.

Isn't there that other brazilian whos got 1000 goals to not as well known but thats impressive, he's still playing too.
