what is the oldest football club in the world i alwayz fought it was notts county but i heard it wasnt any ideas anyone??

thats all i know tho it only sez top 5 in this book i have :(

Aston Villa were early, so were W.B.A.
However unofficialy Villa mite be older as they were foudned as a football/cricket club to start with. Which mite exclude them from ur list.
Villa's 1st game was vs a rugby team...1st half was football, 2nd half rugby. Nice pointless fact for ya.

just sez villa was a sports club and that their stadia was multi- functional on a google search.....

Well North End won the first Premier League type competition.
However, if you look at the FA Cup, it's a team simpley called 'Wanderers' who won it in 1872 and 1873.
1872 Wanderers
1873 Wanderers
1874 Oxford University
1875 Royal Engineers
1876 Wanderers
1877 Wanderers
1878 Wanderers
1879 Old Etonians
...to name a few. The first 'current team' to win something I think was actually Blackburn Rovers in 1884.
And Daz, I don't think Man U will be up there, unless you're including their old names (can't name them off the top of my head).

mach_3 ur right it is sheffield fc it was featured on soccer saturday couple of weeks ago. the date is between 1860 and 1861 sheffield fc are semi-proffesional i thnik 5 divisions below the conference

Napoli are the oldest club in the world and Notts County are the oldest club in the English Leagues.
