i can certainly hear the difference and i prefer the old sound the old 1 sounds more realistic and better

Nah I think it's version. Most people have the newer version which has the sound change whereas we have the older java: 1.1.4.

Yep that's right version 1.3 and later have different sound.

The sound part of Java is the poorest part of the whole thing. To make it work on every version is proving to be a big task. We're going to have to develop a custom sound engine :(
