Well - a long time since I've done any updates - other life has taken priority and beyond the minimum to keep the site running. I'm still not able to do anything significant on the site but now I can at least attempt to fix some issues.

Firstly, I've moved the sites away from a dedicated server and using a virtual scalable service. This means the site can be kept running at reasonable monthly costs.

Secondly, part of the reason why updating was difficult was that the build had quite a few items tieing it to a specific development machine. As it was just one person developing it this wasn't bad - but with new jobs and time moving on I ended up using multiple laptops. Therefore I finally fixed this so it is trivial to get this working on other machines.

Finally... Java applets are of course deprecated some time ago. I'm going to spend a bit of time next week trying to get it to work using a downloadable exe file.

Will Funky come away from Java eventually (With many browsers no longer supporting it) or will it remain Java based (I'm using an Old Opera Version)

It is tied to Java and changing it to a current browser language such as Javascript I don't see feasible. This means that somehow Java VM must be on the client machine, but this will be available pretty much indefinitely.

Hi Nick - do you know what combination of browser and java will work for Windows XP? Mine stopped working after the update today.

Cool. Out of curiosity are any updates going to be made to the game. Like more tournaments to keep people on as no one really plays ranked games anymore and people log off if there isnt a tournament. Maybe new game types like rotation pool, that would be fun.

How is the app coming on as that was started years ago but didnt seem to go beyond a trial with no word.

Even if you dont intend to do anything it would be nice to just get some answers of what you intend to do for the dedicated players that are still here. And to know there is a reason to keep coming on. Communication would be great even if the updates wont be fired out right away.

If this fix works and funky is easier to access then surely there would be more people on and you would think playing ranked games

I'm afraid I'm not going to be able to do more features.

I am concentrating on fixes, in particular it can get easier for people to logon, eg using an exe file for Windows so that means no browser less impediments to playing the game.

So how can I get on in simple terms lol
