Sounds like a Malware Virus mate - check your LAN settings and Proxy.
Reboot the router too - it could be something as simple as that.
Download: http://www.malwarebytes.org
Run the scans and then if it slows your computer - uninstall via Control Panel - this programs very useful.

if its malware id say Adwcleaner m8 that is very gd.

I fixed it sort of. Was an issue with McAfee security on the laptop. Disabled its fire wall protection. I use AVG but no had the time to download that back on the laptop so will delete McAfee completely later on but for now i can access the site now.

Good to hear mate, it sounded like a firewall issue possibly caused through malware. I used to use McAfee mate but I hated it. Windows 10 already has Windows Defender built in and Comodo IceDragon has its own malware protection. You may not require anything else...they'll just conflict with each other IMO.
AVG is good, use the Free version and keep to a minimum amount of devices. I'd still recommend downloading Malwarebytes temporarily just to keep the computer secured...delete afterwards using the Control Panel (Add/Remove Programs).

Ah McAfee wouldn't recommend that. Glad you got it sorted mate.
Yep AVG is good, took one or two viruses off my machine in its time.
Meanwhile, look at Detective Dave go
