Just a thought...after the last update spectators are entitled to watch finals in any tournaments, can the finalists not be given the OPTION to allow any spectators or to play behind closed doors so to speak.
Nothing more frustrating than a player working their hardest to reach a final and to try and win when a bunch of 'noisy, keyboard lovers' enter the room and talk absolute tripe when 2 players are trying their best to win.
I'm not saying it should be invite only I'm saying the finalists at the end of the day should be given the option to choose to have spectators or not prior to their match starting.
No doubt a lot will say it's fine the way it is and probably start getting all personal but to save your fingers and breath 'this is my opinion, you're entitled to yours, doesn't mean I have to read it'

that's all well and good but your not required to look at the chat. you can ignore it and not pay attention to it, not sure why it would put you off.

The fact of the matter is that if you're put off your shots by some people talking in a room then you need to look at your own game. I really can not see any advantage to stopping people entering a room to watch.

But you can go in and watch any of the rounds though, doesn't stop people doing that.

Having an option to bar spectators could be open to abuse.
Using the 'ignore player' option is not.

I would prefer to only have players in games but it's not something that Nick would consider, he sees this as a spectator sport too.
Most people are generally respectful and a lot of the others are just that good that they don't consider they might put somebody off by coming in and prattling away (mattywellie and fran spring to mind )
Just gotta get on with it

how could it be abused if both players agreed ?

So say 8 or 9 players join the audience to watch the finale, say 7 of them are my friends (I should be so lucky lol), so i now have to put them all individually on ignore before we start, then say another 2 join the room not only have i got to concentrate on a pool finale but have to put the new audience members on ignore.
Easier to just ACCEPT or NOT ACCEPT Spectators from the off, surely.

Still though, this could happen in any game, plus if you're getting put off by some words, I'm sorry but you seriously need to look at your game and wonder how it can put you off. If it doesn't put you off then what is the problem?

strange request ash,
but there's no harm to ask,
in my view it's unnecessary,
either way.....you've the same task,
can't you minimise the chat box?
or put em all on ignore,
that way ya still might end up losin,
and also be very bored!!

In essence it's making tourneys private, I don't see that working for the good of the site. You can reduce chat box size or put people on ignore as said.
Even 10 people, you could put them all on ignore in the space of a shot or two. If you have an option like that then someone who wants spectators would miss out. Or if you want to watch a favourite then you'd miss out.
Also people old change their mind mid-game and use it as an excuse.
The openness to abuse comes in where players don't agree.
Overall I don't think it's a problem, and there are ways of dealing with what you want to address already so I don't think anything will be changed. It's going in the opposite direction of what Nick intended by introducing the adverts for finals anyway.

Exactly
Why introduce something which would only happen where two players chose the same option at the same moment.
If you wanted to introduce something potentially beneficial to all players at all times then you could have an 'ignore room' or an 'ignore watchers' option.

It wouldnt work either way because theres two people in the final
what happens when one chooses to accept and other declines ...Which mode does the game put it in?
Naaah i dont like this , i love some banter in a final after all its only a game and even if you are put off/. Just laugh about it

I totally agree with you ash. Iost a final because i was too busy tellign about 2 people to go away, all my concentration was taken and i lost epically
