Transfer window is shut when games are released according to the rules on the league site.

What do you mean you were 'good enough to release him'? You didn't have a choice in the matter! He left, he was allowed to leave so he did. This means that as captain you should change your team sheet to accommodate these changes OK kidda?

He isn't eligible for your games but he is for mine. As for your fixtures you're gonna have to sort that with league runner and make a change.
