Its also funded by my tenners and I have same problem as the thread starter

Any helpful thoughts on how to get my friends list back ?
It appears for a split second and then vanishes and is replaced by silly pool text ads
Thats exactly what i had, i also had a facebook virus at the same time...... i got rid of it by deleting a program (cant remember what it was called sorry :() I had no clue what it was or how it got there so i got rid, it fixed me facebook problem and pool was back to normal

I took away a few silly toolbars and its working now, not sure if they were the cause, but child installed them recently and most are adware related so I guess that was it..

As already mentioned, the majority of the ads are based on sites you visit from googles search engine (or any you visit if using chrome) or those which googles wisdom has decided fit your "online profile".
I have a fiance so have no use for such sites that would bring up those ads. James (dgeneratio) has clearly pointed out also that he does not use such sites but he still gets ads like that. I mainly browse train times and movie download sites, i have not once had an ad related to those though =/
