It is unfortunate, I hate seeing a game that has been played going to default because of a technicality but craig was never re-registered as a player, captain or vice and the rules are worded clearly on the matter.

5.7 Captains/Vices doing subs or swaps
Only the registered Captain / Vice Captains can make a substitutions or swap, as per rule 5.2

5.2 Incase of a vacant captain / vice a list of players that maybe used should be posted on both clan threads and the official substitution thread by the captain or the vice.

We have been lenient in letting teams just post permission for players to sub themselves in on their own threads but it always needs to be a captain or vice posting the permission.

I told Craig to post but then couldn't log in for a few hours for some unknown reason, whatever rules are there, are are for a reason....

Sorry for jumping in here guys, surely a bit of common sense is needed here, does it really matter who posted the sub as long as it gets played by 2 legible players, which was the case here, we all go on about avoiding defaults and heres a game going to default because in Lee's words a technicality, totally pointless, result should stand and move on.

Why have that rule in the first place then if it's not going to be enforced?

This would put Shooters at the top of the table. If they end up winning it, they'll have won due to an illegal sub. If the rule isn't applied here, it can't be applied for other games of other clans either.

I understand. The problem is that someone who (for the purposes of FBL) has no connection to Shooters - he's not a player, vice, or captain - has made a sub to get you the completion bonus.
All of us always have to post if we want to give our players permission to make subs. Why should that not apply here? And he wasn't even a player...

Let me know when you want to play our Super League games by the way. Not sure when the deadline is.

ilegal sub ?, I must be missing something, the only problem seems to be who posted the sub, surely as long as the game is played does it really matter who posted the sub, Seb think about it this way, will SS be happy to win this way, with their league rivals possibly losing points just because the wrong person posted a sub, surely its what happens on the pool table that counts, not who posts subs lol

Ok, but I would like the requirement dropped that I have to give permission to my players to sub. Also, I want people not on the team to be able to make subs for me, as happened here. And only if it's convenient for me of course. (I don't actually want that, but making the point.)

I would be very happy to win this way- we followed all the rules.

^^ thats just about right, we could spend pages arguing but game was played, with two eligible players. In fcl in past sub has never been posted by anyone and results stood.. ie me vs _kayle_..

League runners have common sense and can exercise it in rules anytime they deem sensible..

So yes theres rules and common sense when using them..

no problem ab, i just hope common sense prevails here....
