The score is 10 -1 due to .......
7.5 Substitutions in partially played games
Once a game is started between two players, either side may make a substitution in order to complete a game. Any player substituted in is unable to score any further points for the team from rack wins in that part-played game but does have the ability to stop their opponents from scoring.

Because it gives your team the opportunity to not simply give up the last three unplayed games to your opponents. You get the opportunity to stop them from scoring any further points. But at the same time there is an element of 'punishment' to your team for the actions of your player.
