Super League format update
There have been a few discussions about trying to come up with the best format for the upcoming Super League season and in trying to do whats best for all of the clans in making it more of an open competition, increasing the chances of 'lesser' clans to compete, in reducing the overall number of games and in order to make it different from the more standard, high level tests of the FCL and FBL.
The format will be a return almost to that of the original Super League competition as follows...
Matches will be 5-a-side but with short game formats of a maximum of 6 racks - 2 each of US8, US9 and UK8. There will still be Event bonuses.
It is hoped that as many clans as possible will consider submitting two teams. To help with coverage there will be the following rules..
1) All players for each clan will be registered on the Team Lists page.
2) For each fixture period, clans will submit a list of 5 players for each of their teams for each game. The remaining (maximum of six) players will be unused subs and can be subbed in to either of the two teams as required.
3) Any player subbed out of one team may only be subbed back into the same team from which they were removed and no player may be swapped from one team to the other.
4) No individual player will be able to play for both teams during the same fixture period.
It is hoped that with the flexibility of these rules it will allow more clans to enter two teams and reduce the chances of unplayed games.
The actual format of the season will be decided once its finally known how many teams will be entering - ie whether it is just one Division, or whether there is still some form of play-offs on a shorter and straight elimination knock-out basis. It could also be a mini league/groups format initially. Either way it will be as short as possible to keep it the same length overall as the FCL which looks like it will be a maximum of 12 weeks start to finish although with a little bit of thought it could potentially be reduced to 10 weeks maximum.

Good stuff.
That gives us 12 teams. The current plan will be to have 2 groups of 6. The top 4 from each group will go through to the Play-Offs and will be seeded based on their releavant places in each group.
The Play-Offs will be a straight forward knock-out. No second chances for any losing team!!
Therefore the two teams that end up in the Final will have played a maximum of 8 games in the season and the schedule will last the exact same length of time as the FCL.
To further assist clans, games will be released for each of the groups on alternate weekends.
