Seeing as though newbies are now allowed in tourneys can we get rid of the friendly tournaments?
The only reason everyone has given for them being in there is so newbies have something to get them used to tourneys so with the change they aren't needed and still as unpopular as ever.

10 tourneys 42 entrants 4 per tourney 28 games played total less than 3 per tourney.
They were a waste of space on the tourney schedule before now they are totally pointless.

What day was this on?
Try looking at it over a week compared to a normal tournament

today/yesterday sunday is probably the most popular day on here and the numbers for friendly tournaments have always been terrible. The few that joined these just probably haven't realised they can join proper tourneys yet.

Good point flapjack, but great research ipotalot. Although I'm a little intrigued by those two tourneys with 2 entrants but 0 games played...!

I agree that there arent any reasons for keeping Friendly tournaments.

i do think that they can be disposed off now, as lee said friendlies was brought in so newbies can get a feel for tournaments, now nick has changed it so newbies can enter (all the better imo) then friendlies can go, especially since nick wants ranked games to be face of the site.

not say friendly games are all bad (since probably 90% of my games are friendlies) but you could just go into a friendly room and play

i think micros replace friendly tournaments quite well as its over in like 20 minutes maybe less depending on the game mode.

I still think you should have hourly tournaments and speed/micro on the 30 minute mark

I still think you should have hourly main tournaments (including Marathons in that) for 5 game types ie Straight, UK8, US8, 9, & Randoms. And I actually preferred clooney's 25 hour rotating schedule so it would have been 5 tournaments of each, seeing as the current fixed schedule is not being regularly changed.

The half hour ones, if they stayed, could be novelty tournaments ie Arcades and Speeds. These would be timed generally to finish before the next main tournament became available on the hour thereby maximising the potential entrant numbers.

And then an option to have randomly automatically paired up ranked games (at full tournament weighted rank) could either replace Micros, or run alongside them, to make sure there are ranked games always available at full weighted 'tournament' rank value for everyone to play.

Would, in theory, create a level playing field across the board.

Yeah one had a no show and tourney was won with no game played the other had 2 no shows double DQ.

I don't mind the micros being as they are because with the changes to tournapoints now factoring in the amount of frames I think more people will be playing the main tournaments again and micros will become something for the real noobs to achieve which is what they should be for in my opinion.
I personally think the arcade and speed games should be on the half hour and get rid of the friendlies.

OldSkool Tournaments, great games.. !:) in my opinion NOW its gone Newbie Friendly it Fails, its taken the challenge factor out of the game. Tournaments should be every hour or TWO Ranked with Bonus Rank for 1st,2nd,3rd SIMPLE

yeah not liking the friendly tournaments, only stuck up with them for newbies but no point now they can get in the proper tourneys.

maybe someone can get clooney to look here? he has the power to get rid of the friendly tournies.

I dont see any point in them now that newbies can join tournaments. But if they were to go how would they be replaced, if they were replaced that is

i think friendly tournaments are silly now , served a purpose for newbies but as fry above said they can join all tournaments now ..

so friendly tournaments should be scraped and removed i think

It looks to me that everyone that has comment thinks Friendly Tournaments should be removed. I for one agree.

Being that they haven't been yet I'd like to hear from an Admin or Moderator as to why!

Doesn't matter how much we dont want them there they will not be removed, even with the newbies can now enter tournaments the friendlies will still be there.

I would like to see them replaced with normal tournaments, i dont like the lots of tournaments we have but i would rather have more of them than have the friendly ones
