If you have an about me section which you only want friends to see, then surely once they've seen it once they don't need to go back to see it again? If it's something that you only want friends to know, then simply tell them. All other stuff (ranks and username) should NEVER be restricted. All personal stuff is your choice. I just think it would be daft to have a private option just for your about me section.
