I've noticed that there are a lot less 10 man+ games of killer going on at the moment and i'm pretty sure that's down to there being double points available from all the tournament games available.

I know that the logistics of a killer tournament have been discussed before but I think there must be scope for a pre organised double points 15 man killer game.

A bit like the micro tournies, the maximum number of places will be predetermined and will just mean first come first serve.

It would give a level playing field across all the disciplines and will get a bit more interest back in larger games of killer.

i could imagine a newbie winning 60-70 points in one game and thats just from a 10 man.

seems a good idea though.

That's true but someone with a low rank can potentially win 60-70 in a normal tournament, certainly in a marathon tourny.

Maybe newbies could be prevented from entering just like they are in ranked tournaments.

I don't see why - no real difference to a tournament and if it's just one game you don't have the difficulties of how to arrange a killer tourny.

dont think its too hard to do double rank for 10 man and over.

killer tournaments is a different story.

I don't particularly see why either. You just timetable a large killer game into the schedule and invite people to join as you do with micro tournaments now. Once you have clicked to join, if you then leave it shows as a DQ as in any other tournament. When its full it automatically starts. The only technical issue to my limited knowledge would be automatically starting the killer game after the entry period closes when say you may have only 8 players who have joined a 10 player game?

Sounds like a good idea to me

But again that's not too different to the micro tournaments. They start with less than 8 players if there are not enough entrants. The game could be set up for 15 but begin after ten minutes whether you have the full quota or not.

Yep - its just that with killer at the moment if you set up a 15 man game you cant start till you have 15. If you only get 10 then you have to wait or reset the game from scratch to a 10 man game.

I think it would work well though if it can be done.

nick can only do 1 v 1 tournaments far as i know, and killer isn't 1 v 1, if it was it would be boring.

as for not starting before 15, maybe a button for room owner so they can start the game at any time (providing they all press yes as normal).

Not asking for it as a tournament with rounds though. It would be just a one off large killer game. Call it a micro killer tournament if you want.

The difference would be that there would be tournament ranking points available, TournaPoints etc. That is tinotoon's idea I think.

Yes you can currently set up your own large killer game however as I said above unless you get that number of players to join you cant start it.

couldn't they grade the points a bit too? Meaning in a 15 man the top 3 get + rankings instead of losing the same amount of points for coming second as someone who finished last. Or a lot more if you've got a higher ranking.

It is yeah. I don't suggest a tournament as such because I know that can't be done. But it might be possible to have a tournament without the format - i.e. a pre set game open for entry only this time it will be one game of killer as opposed to numerous rounds of 9 ball etc. If you get 15 entries than you have a 15 man game but if you only get 9 then its 9 man. I think that would work.

Nevermind the TournaPoints, but when you win a 10-15 man killer game, heck, you do deserve twice the points you get!

Plus I'm all for ipotalot's idea, why wouldn't it be top three then? I say, increase the amount of points you usually get by winning a killer pool game by double, and make the top three win. It doesn't have to be all that fairly covered, though, for example the winner gets 90%, and both the 2nd and 3rd place win 5%.

There's the problem though, as you get pts considering the amount of pts you already have. So it would really appear to be a tournaments, only it's without rounds and tournapoints.

the thing is that it would be far too easy for people to rank up and you would get an unusual amount of people in professional rankings after a few games

I think having a killer tournament with 1 game for 15 participants maximum would be great in my opinion.

The double rankings and tournapoints can both be involved.

Have an announcement to join the game in a certain amount of time(as per normal), once the time to join has run out the game starts weather there is 5,8,10,12. The game could also start automatically once the maximum of 15 has entered.

The player who wins the game gets the normal 70% of the tournapoints, 2nd place gets 20%, then 3rd and 4th place can have the 5% each.

I like it!

Its nothing to do with a 1 v 1 format though - there is no knockout. It is just one game of normal killer but treated and scored the same way as a tournament and played at set times so people can opt to make themselves available for it.

Yep spot on Aaron

yeah i know but still feels like a tournament, if this does work (which i doubt) then maybe it should be continuous like micro (if it ever became continuous.
