i think it should be deemed a foul if when potting the penultimate ball of a rack the cue ball should land on the "triangle ", now it gives you ball in hand anywhere in the baulk ....thoughts

edited spelling mistake :)

im split on this because alot of ppl do play for it if they cant get back into good pos in baulk. and tbh its quite a clever shot to play.. but i must admit when it happens against me im gutted lol

Official rules state that if the cue ball interferes with the rack then the cue ball is in hand on ,or behind the baulk line, or "head string" as refered to in the rules

Have to fully disagree im afraid. Everyone likes to see or likes to get massive runs, this is just another tool to use to enable these runs. Its the same for both players and 99 times out of 100, it is never a lucky shot to end up in the 'triangle', so therefor it is not like the random shot argument or any fluke argument, it is a clever and sometimes skillful positional shot.

It is also a risky shot, everyone would like to get position on the final ball of the rack without going for the 'triangle' as a minor misjudgement of either angle or pace then the chances are extremely high you will not have any shot other than hit and hope or safety.

I feel this is a completely valid and worthwhile rule.

Ok well lets say it goes into the pack... what do you suggest actually happens? Or is this just a random moan... The rules are there, and they are the proper rules.

I'd be for it, it would cut out a lot of flukes, but you do that and it would extend the length of the game massively, and it would also see a rapid decrease in the runs possible. This would in turn decrease the number of people that would play the game. So yeah if you want to kill off the game, put the proper rules in

maybe even if there was a separate game mode altogether for nominating a pocket

I wouldn't be against pocket selection. Majority would, that was the point i was making.

A game of straight normally takes about 15 mins as it is so to add this feature on would only at least double that time. For only a couple of ranking points, cant see too many people wanting to take part.

As an argument of flukes etc because of there not being nominated pockets, it happens to everyone.

As an online free game with nothing actually riding individually on each game, I feel that nick and his team have done such a good job that picking up on one or two rules that could be implemented into each game type is very facetious. Tips and advice about helping gameplay is always a good idea, but at the end of the day, whatever format, the rules are the same for whoever clicks 'ok'!
