Change is more likely to occur during the tournament, so could we not have this feature whilst the tourny is in play? (would have to be before a round starts)
Would help people who would otherwise lose possibly 3 or 4 points to someone who hasn't done anything to earn or deserve those points without actually taking anything away from them

Yes - in addition to the confirmation prompt Nick mentioned above at entry. Just on the basis your circumstances could change in the 10 minutes between you joining and the tournament actually starting.

Yes I said that on another thread and agree with you.
Certainly up until the Quarters or Semi Finals at least I think it would be good.

would be even better imo only disadvantage is my may increase the BYES.
@ chris - until Quarters would be good as most people in Quarters are fully commited to finish the tournament.

Mostly would be the people getting DQ'd anyway who use it

Nick, is it possible for there to be a 'leave tournament' option between rounds (before the draw is made for the next round) up until a designated point, at least for ranked tournaments?

The problem with this, and the reason the loss was introduced, is to prevent people pulling out because they dont want to play their next opponent, risk the rank etc.
Thats why nobody should be allowed to pull out without losing after the draw has been made.

Yes that's all agreed and totally understandable. The option to leave though could possibly be available after winning the previous round and before the next round is drawn (up until the quarter final stage only appears to be popular view) to allow for players who are playing in multiple tournaments or for those who simply have to log off.
Not a huge issue - a default loss is only ever going to be a small amount of points anyway - but it might help encourage more players into all tournaments.

I completely agree with that - 100%
Just happened to me other night, joined tourny and the first two rounds went unusually long and i ended up staying up a bit longer to avoid losing about 4/5 points in ranked (Although on the good side i did actually win because i stayed in)

RANKINGS: dark_chocoo 720.3 (+8.7), no_talking 850.4 (-8.2)
they is noway dark_chocoo should be on a rank of 712 this wrong the way your doing the ranking every player knows he a millions times better then most players on here
this got 2 be sorted out we all might as well reset because you be a pro in one tournament

This is a perfect example of why making all tournaments ranked makes so much sense. People have been complaining about this kind of thing for years, now, given a few weeks/months to balance out, it will be a thing of the past.

so you call this fun then when a player should not be on 712
when every knows he should be on 800 plus
so they will be a lot more arguments because people don't like losing all them points in tournaments why play them.
if that the case. if they where even out so a high rank player dose not lose as many points 2 a lower rank player our a reset player it would be better
because every will reset if they lose most of they points
and unfair that the people that have won loads of tournaments they will not reset

May I just reiterate that to lose purposely to help someone else gain points is a form of cheating?
Please play your games wisely.
