you might be happy mate but the admins wouldn't, no point as they would simply remove the post for naming and shaming and talking about a reset in the forum.

you only have to look at the threads people made when top players got reset, it got deleted in an instant, same will happen here.

al_ways look on the bright side of life

have to agree with kirk.

do you ever play to lose?......well i don't, dunno about you but surely to gawd if theres a chance yer gonna take it.

yer givin off about 9 ball and i have no idea where yer comin from, for i'm up and down like a yo-yo on rankings and this is obviously an attribute of 9 (fluke) ball. but to be honest i aint bothered.

only thing that gets on my wick here are bad losers who feel the need to be rude and/or aggressive/abusive.

so ya lost to a fake newbie, just get on with it and make sure you do yer damnedest to play better next time.

here endeth the lesson hippes of gazereth

On another forum Nick said...

"The more I think about it the more I like this idea. Tournaments should be the flagship games of the sites. If the top ranked players get there without playing tournament games it seems wrong".

So if all tournies were ranked after a while the rankings wud reflect better true abilities if second accounts were not utilised.

i dont like it personally, its fine as it is, mixture of ranked and friendly tournaments, so if a user wants to play ranked tournament they can, if a user wants to play friendly tournament they can.

everyone is happy

personally if ALL tournaments were ranked i would never enter another one (not that i enter many anyway).

You seem to have totally missed the point hippes - not bothered about losing to a n00b (I would have lost more pts had he not been a n00b) - it is those players who are protecting their ranking by playing ranked tournaments on a secondary account. Nick is trying to achieve an accurate as possible ranking and this is impossible if users have secondary accounts.....

how can you determine if its family or not, take welsh_boi_13 and welshdragon for example, EVERYONE knows those 2 are brothers and play on different accounts and both about the same level when it comes to form.

so if you had a family member who is as good as you and come online i don't think they would take too kindly to be banned for doing nothing wrong or even being accused of having a second account.

you can have more than one account

It's quite clear from the rules you cannot. The fact is that it is not, understandably, something that is routinely policed due to the size of the player base. But just because it relies more on self-policing does not make it OK and where they come to light, for whatever reason, they ought to be removed.

It's not actually that clear in the rules...

Help section said:
Each user should have no more than ONE account. Any user that has more than one username, could have their secondary or higher usernames banned without warning. Ordinarily we will not check for multiple accounts but when any funkypool rule is broken, we may take action against all accounts.

It says should have no more than 1 account, and that the other account could be banned, which leaves it open for interpretation.

they are not going to lose rank on their main account if they lose

sums it up perfectly if you are trying to create a level playing field for all - and yes it applies to ranked games too - even more reason for action.

Not really, as the contray should also be thought about for this, as the player on a secondary account could gain points, but not be as high rank, and the opponent would lose less points compared to playing them on their main account.

agreed with 2nd point damien, you lose less to a newbie so in theory they did you a favour.

obviously this is a thread like the flag problem in power snooker, where we argue and no one is going to win.

dgen

suppose I play an 850 player in a tournie at UK and I win - I would win about 1.9 pts

suppose I play the same player on his / her secondary account at 700 (newbie or not it doesnt matter) and I win - I would win about 0.6 pts

If i lost to the 850 rank I wud lose about 3.5 pts
If i lost to the 700 rank (ignore n00b) I wud lose around 5 pts

So in a ranked tournament final if I win 3-2 to the 850 player I would lose 1.3 pts. If I win 3-2 v the same player on their secondary account I would lose 8.2 pts

Does that seem reasonable to you?

I wrote to nick about this whole rule, and basically the rule is clear, you shouldn't have more than one account but they don't check for second accounts unless the problems are major.

so that tells me basically you can have a second account but if they decide to check your account and find a problem with it then your risking getting banned.

Every user who makes a second account runs the risk of getting banned if they are found out they are cheating in some way (logging in at same time, playing ranked against yourself etc).
