I suppose its a bit like chess where many people say that you should think two, three sometimes ten moves ahead (although I can't play chess for peanuts ).

But you can still play your normal game, but in fast forward motion. The few little things which shave half a second off your shot might give you two more seconds to have your shot.

Chess is a good comparison, you dont just need to plan ahead but you need mutiple options as you try to anticipate your opponents shot so you are ready to go should they miss.

You also need to change how you use the chat, and discipline yourself only to use it between games or when your opponent is at the table.

forgot about this thread, maybe it could be a friendly tournament with nothing at stake then you can play 5 second tournaments for fun rather than worrying about rank.

I don't buy into friendly tournaments I'm afraid, especially since the recent changes to make tournaments completely ranked.

If the option to play ranked games at 5 seconds is available, then so should a tournament be available especially seen as all tournaments are now ranked and the 'ultimate achievment' for a player.

You don't have to participate, so that basically clears the people against it for whatever reason really. But to go further, if people are worried about it taking a time slot of a current tournament, it will be so fast that you should be able to put it in at the half hour mark as mentioned earlier in the thread. For example 9-ball tournament 10.00 super speed random tournament 10:30.

I don't really see a problem. It will just be another option and addition to the game, which is always great.

Sort of contradicting yourself there, you don't have to participate in friendly tournys, so by your logic that clears the people who are against it

Although it doesn't clear the people against it, as people don't want to be discluded from something simple because they don't like it

Eh? Then they don't have to disclude themselves from it? I don't quite understand that statement.I don't like straight, I don't play. You don't like super speed, you don't play. Plus, my proposal says that nobody is being discluded as no tournament is being taken out that they may have wanted to take part in, instead. It is simply adding choice, and is a sensible inclusion.
Seriously, it is like creating a mountain out of a molehill in regards to disuputing the inclusion of it.


People play 5 second ranked games, then you should have 5 second tournaments (seen as they are now the most important factor in funkypool rankings) otherwise that is really the major contradiction in regards to this debate

By doing that you are buying into the new truer ranking system completely, which is good

It isn't always that easy, for example people who like playing friendly tournaments now have to pick whether to sacrifice their rank to play for little chance of return on that or to keep their rank and not play tournys - with no other option

And you've focused on the tourny that would come afterwards, but ignored the one that would come before, as that would still be running at half past



People play 40-90 second ranked games, but where are the tournaments for these games?

This is the problem. You are not thinking about the inclusion of the 5 second speed tournaments, really you aren't even arguing it at all. You are debating a much broader all be it completely different subject.

Also in regards to your ranking. You are miles off, It will probably be a much fairer reflection for sure.

take for instance straight, I don't play it much, but I'm decent enough at it, won a tourny under the new ranked system (having not played it really for days) and went up to 811 ish

Accurate in the same way that it is in any other ranking system - if you don't play then others overtake you.

Don't forget its your position that matters, not your score.

Not really relevant to 5 second tournaments though - so yes I am in favour, yes agree with sporting they should be ranked, and yes if it helps to feed one it at half past the hour then great.
