When Sir Norman Wisdom was a 14 year old lad, he was starving due to his family being very poor, so in desperation he went to join the army to make ends meet.
The Army officer said he was too short and a bit weedy to join up and advised him to go and work down the mines to toughen himself up, so a young Norman walked from London to South Wales and for 3 years, worked in the mines, after the 3 years he walked back to London and into the very same army recruitment office and was signed up....hows that for dedication?? needs must in them days, today you young 'uns have it easy.
RIP Sir Norman Wisdom.
