A higher rank level for resetters is a good idea, since by definition they would be more experienced.
That's actually quite brilliant, but one possible downside would be making it harder for them to get games I'd imagine.... Maybe not a real problem tho
My thinking was that they may actually find it less frustrating as there would be no reason for people not to play them, unlike now when they may join a game only to have the opponent reject it for "no newbie" purposes.
This would have to be based on number of games played, like now, not a time limit.

Why do newbies have to be ranked at all?

I think with the reset already in place, it de-values the ranking points. Giving resetters higher points already would only de-value points even more.

Actually a good idea.
And even better idea: Start new accounts a LOT higher than 675.0
Start new accounts at 775 for example. For new, bad players, the worst thing that happens is they lose points and drop down to where they belong. But they don't hurt others' rank in the process.
The underline part is basically what this is all about , so high ranks don't get robbed by fake newbies , id like to point out that not everyone on here strives to get a huge rank in this game , i myself prefer to play tournaments and fake newbies are a problem in tourneys as well, so if admin is going to consider changing the ranking system to make things for fair ranked game players, i think the issues with fake newbies in tounaments should be looked at as well ?

Why not let the user decide by having a drop down box in the players own profile. Instead of the default 'newbie' during first hundred games in each format the individual player could select an alternate option such as 'not a newbie' or 'ex pro account' or.... ideas from anyone

And if you want a genuine ranking system thats a view that has to be overcome as a ranking system is all about a players relevance to another player in terms of position in a table. The score is simply the way of differentiating the players and in itself it is irrelevant. However on here the current system is one of high score tables, much like you see in video games, which is OK if thats what you want but is completely different to a real 'ranking' table.
To throw something else in could tournaments not be ranked along the same lines as killer games are - ie ranking points are not allocated after every frame/match played in a tournament but rather allocated at the end of the tournament based on numbers of players that entered, their ranking scores, how far the player got in the tournament and the frames won compared to the frames lost?
This could either then get added to the (hopefully) revamped ranking system or maintained as a separate tournament ranking which really would give a genuine ranking table of ability at least for those who play tournaments.

I dont see how "fake" newbies can be a problem in tournaments.
There is no ranking system, and you can't choose your opponent at any stage. So whether they are a newbie or adept is irrelevant.
To be clear - the issue here is to try as best as possible to make it less attractive to randomly create new accounts. The issue of people losing rank to newbies etc is a seperate issue, and one which is already covered by the newbie adjustment setup.
If you read back it was also proposed to remove newbies from tournaments altogether, so people have to at least be dedicated enough to play 100 games before being able to enter.

If it was that simple, high ranks would be automatically blocked from playing the low ranks
Say i want to play uk ranked, im 830 ish or whatever, even at peak times there might be 2 or 3 800+ players playing, off peak theres often none, so if you have a have rank and want to increase it, you have no choice but to play lower ranks with the small on win - big on loss points

Arguably all these worries over playing fake newbies only exist because you have the right to choose who you play in ranked matches - therefore everyone is not playing on a level playing field as some choose to play all opponents whereas others choose to vet who they play.
If you had no choice over who you played in ranked games everything would even out over time much as it does in every other type of competition in the world where you do not get to choose who you compete against.
You might be top of the table and lose to a 'fake' newbie one day where you lose big however the player replacing you at the top then does the same thing the following day.
Of course over a longer period of time the better players rise to the top and will stay there until they deteriorate or even better players emerge. And more to the point everyone who gets there has done so under exactly the same playing conditions.
