New server for funkypool, plus some other changes

New dedicated server is live now. This machine and setup is significantly quicker than the last machine. As an example, the startup time for funkypool was 4 seconds here compared to 22 seconds previously. This should hopefully noticeably improve the web page speeds too - I will check this over the next few days.

In addition to the new server there's also a few other changes:
- 5 second ultra quick games are now enabled
- a warning shows before game start for quick games, slow games or great discrepancy between contestant levels
- tick tock sound (as killerpool) instead of beep sound
- censored text is now shown as an upside down question mark instead of an asterisk so we can differentiate between user and system censored text
- friendly results are stored same as all other results

The domain name http://www.funkypool.com will take upto 24 hours to point to this new domain, so we can use http://new.funkypool.com for now. There's no need to update bookmarks, the new.funkypool.com address will be removed in a few days.

Nice update - will the post times fix themselves when the domain name goes back?

(e.g. posts i made an hour or 2 ago come up as 'about 10 hours ago)

Great changes Nick

Regarding 5 sec games, may I suggest a ticking sound that increases in pitch (not decibels) from 5 seconds down to 0?

In that game format is more important than ever to be able to keep close track of remaining time without having to take your eyes off your aiming

All previous times have lost these 8 hours due to not persisting the timezone in the copy, and they will be lost I'm afraid.

A good suggestion jan. I am not happy with it being disabled so I do want to alter it.

Ah nevermind then, but all the post times after the switch will be fine?


Oh and thanks for getting the random tournys added to overall tournys on profiles

Completely love the responsiveness of the new server too - web pages loading a ton faster now.

(no wonder tho, ping times from Europe into Lithuania is a great deal nicer than when having to go across the Atlantic )

Yeah that came up on snooker aswell. Think the text just needs to be wrapped to display properly inside the alert message.

That still gets blocked like before I think, the warning is when you try to play a player with a lot different rank in a room that has a large ranking range.

Oh right ok.

I played a guest in straight and it came up but did not have the time to screenshot it, so afterwards I went into any room to get the screenshot.

The only problem I had was that the whole text did not fit into the warning box.

Very nice work Nick One thing though, I can't hear any countdown at all in the 5 second games...

nice nick!

One suggestion I have to to perhaps have the option of the clicking countdown noise or the beeping tone. I can hear the clicking noise fine now but if im not sure if I would be able to hear it if there are a few noisy things happening in the house (i.e vaccuming). Also a good option for those like Cloone who are having problems with the new sound.
