Hey all I could not log on to any funkypool gamesite at all earlier today for about 12 hours may I ask why?

Hey, everyone got that mate, was the same with Funkysnooker. I think it was caused due to the server being down, it happened a while back, but it wasn't for as long.

Same happened with other websites too, twitter was one

Yeah I thought the same but I was also thinking they where changeing the site.

Anyone from Houston on here? Because that is where the server is based (i think) and wonder if anything has gone on there...?

Site is only down for a few minutes during site updates but funky was down for 10 to 14 hours

Must been a problem on the part of the hosting company.

Not surprisingly, it got sorted shortly after regular working hours on the east coast started today

it went again for just over 3 hours

Wonder what happened. I tried pool, snooker and killer pool at about 4pm today (UK time) and they were all down.

Strangely i was being redirected to a search engine when trying to access them. Anyone else get that?

Nick is aware of the issues, but as they are with the server provider they are out of his control.

It's normal for hosting services to redirect to a generic page until their servers are up and runnning again.

Hopefully normal service will be resumed soon

How come we can get on the pool game again but not snooker and the tournaments have stopped since the snooker site has come back up (says upcoming tournaments '19-00' and has done since the site has come back yet its almost 10 to 8)

The annoying part is that my bug report got turned down by the hosts.

Positively sick and tired of people sitting on their high horse without getting their ears open. When you are hosting something, for money, you have a responsibility. To the paying customer - which isn't me - but none the less, you don't have to be the customer to recognize and report a bug.

Let me be perfectly clear here: None of this has anything to do with funkypool.com, Nick or anyone else on this site.

Lets just say I don't exactly hold the people at theplanet.com in very high esteem right now.

For the record, the issue must been related to the web server or port 80. The server responded to ping at all times so not a basic connection issue.

Well i have been able to speak to someone from theplanet.com (which wouldn't even confirm that their servers host the funky sites even though i already know) and they said someone would be informed. Not sure if they will, but worth a go nevertheless.

Sounds pretty much like the response I got - appalling.

OF COURSE they won't give random people information about the hosting of funkypool - that's a relation between the company and Nick exclusively - but not wanting to comment on whether they are hosting the site AT ALL is well beyond the point of ridiculous since it is public information in the first place. The customer representative you talked to (sounds like the same guy) need to learn reverse DNS look-up and/or whois lol

That being said, I completely understand they won't go into any details - that's exclusively part of the relation between the company and Nick, no one else, but it is also completely irrelevant. It's annoying they go down that road without even hearing you out first. I was exclusively giving information - never asked for any.

Seriously, Nick need to find a more professional host. Not because of downtime - that's usually very good - but because they are utterly incompetent.

On a related, although somewhat different note - why is the site hosted in the US anyway? Unless I'm completely mistaken, the majority of the users, by far, are located in UK and the rest of Europe anyway, so UK hosting surely would make more sense in terms of response? Not that 100-150 ms ping round trip is any big deal in this particular game anyway, just no point either.

Sounds highly unlikely.

Wherever would you have heard any reliable intel on that anyway - it's not like they talk to anyone anyway.

A player of here said that Nick said that... he told me this on MSN.

Is it really closing? Hope everything gets sorted soon.

It's shocking they won't even give most basic of info like 'we do host funkypool, we know of the problems and are trying to fix it'.
