I just played in one of these tournaments, and it lasted 1 frame then it was over. I couldnt help thinking what a stupid name this game has, there was no discipline involved, multi or otherwise, why not just call it random.

thats just the name for it . i for one think its a very good tournament

its called a random multi-discipline because its exactly that
a tournament where the discipline played in each individual match is randomly selected (random) from one of the main three (multi) game types (disciplines)

It is a good tournament, im just saying i think it has a stupid name.

As i said in my original post, i think it would be better just called "random"

doesnt really matter, we all know its random so i dont see what the deal is.

Not at all.

Sometime down the line we may have random single discipline or non random multi discipline tournaments etc. It just makes sense to have a naming system that reflects the tournament accurately.

You could to away with "cat" "dog" "pig" "cow" etc and just call everything a "random animal", but it might make buying a pet, or a sunday roast, slightly awkward...

or if you thought about it event could be used throughout tourny and picked only when tourny starts, or same discipline and different amount of frames played (randomly picked)

tis an excellent tourny, really frustrating over 1 frame but even so i think this is a good thing as it doesn't leave much room for error.

best of 3 one of each discipline would be multi discipline this it not one time i played uk in every round so really for me it was a uk torny on that occasion

the type of tournament would be chosen at random and stay the same...

So you would be entering a "Single Random Tournament" and its entirely 9 ball for example.

... unless the matches had random times as well, or maybe were sometimes "reverse tournaments" with or without other features..
