Hi,
I just logged on to my Hotmail and noticed that spam emails have been sent to everyone on my contacts list (3rd time in as many weeks).
This is obviously very annoying for the people who get these messages. I changed my password after the first incident but it still happens. I have also just deleted everyone, but close friends, from my contacts.
Is there any way to stop this happening, or would I be better just setting up a new account?

Sounds like you have a MSN virus, do a full system scan on your computer and see if that gets rid of it

Hmm... I actually access the internet at my local library and at University, so I can't scan the PC. I don't have internet at home.
Sorry should have mentioned that earlier

tell the University/library that there may be a spam virus on the server because of whats happening to your msn, they should in theory sort it.

I've had that problem before. It's actually a bot accessing your email and sending out spam.
After you logged in to you hotmail account, or on MSN messenger, did you click a link that required you to log in to your account again?? If so, then you just gave the bot your username/password.
Myspace had the same problem for ages.
I suggest you change your password. That should solve the problem, if not, then like Rob says, the university/library could possibly have a spam virus

I changed my password after the first time, but it still happens. Also I never click links I'm not sure about, but could be possible that something ran when I opened a message?
A lot of people I spoke to also have same problem.
I'll just set up a new account.

Strongly recommend gmail.com over hotmail.
Although gmail is starting to catch up, hotmail is still by far the worst email in the world when it comes to spam problems.

will be down to the lib/uni, someone will have put a bot on to take passes to access emails and hope someones connected bank details with it, my advice would be make a new msn and see if you have to same problem, if you do then its 100% the lib/uni pc's although i've had this before and 1 where contacts randomly get blocked, no sign of a virus just a msn fault

LOL, classic!
Think we'll wait for Spinner on this one. But it seems like the best bet would be to just change emails or, like Jan said, just switch to gmail. I use Yahoo myself and never had a problem.

Haha
I remember funkypool being blocked at college a few years ago after someone saw me playing and told me it was wasting bandwidth.
The funny thing was that I was able use a proxy website (Proxy Mafia) to bypass their proxy server
