Running out of time is possible in a str8 tourni if both players are playing (very) safe.
I cant remember a double dq by myself, but if the game is running out of time and my opponent is leading 2-0: big chance I give him the win.

As annoying as it may be a DQ is hardly the end of the world, and a double DQ doesn't happen that often (in the later stages).

Usually if you get DQd it's your own fault.

If you don't finish within the allotted time, tough

I agree with Rogan on this one. If you are DQ'ed from a tournament, then it's nobodys fault but your own. Either you didn't pot the balls well enough and you opponent felt like losing, or you didn't make it to the room in time. Either way you are given multiple warnings before you are DQ'ed

Tend to disagree with this one... WhenI was DQ from final through time, it was not my fault but the opponent I was playing. Those who play against me know that I always play fast, therefore being DQ through a time penalty is something that I loathe...

I see your point, and im not saying it's not a valid one. I'm just saying that i think that if you get DQ'ed because of time, then you must have missed a lot of shots to give the opponent the opportunity to take all the safety shots.

Well the maximum time a player can waste each shot is 20 seconds, if they choose to snooker you that's their choice and is a perfectly legitimate thing to do, and it is up to you to get out of it.

If they do it with the intention of wasting all of the remaining time, as unsporting as it is, it's still up to you to resolve it.

What if they have a bad connection and keep 'not responding'?

A lot more than 20 seconds gets used

valid point there, ill use <name> as an example, he can stop responding 4/5 times in 1 game of a final/semi which if it was a speed, would mean they would both go out

Are we expected to ensure our opponents maintain a healthy connection?

But it's not deliberate.

Surely its not you're fault times being wasted because of your opponents connection.

and it doesnt matter if its deliberate or not (often you cant tell)

If they do it with the intention of wasting all of the remaining time and with no intention of winning, doing it solely to eliminate both players, that's unsporting (in my opinion).

Of course it matters if it's deliberate or not. That's the whole point of this argument, deliberate time wasting.

Accidental time wasting due to a bad connection shouldn't be punished, unless you want everyone to pass a connection test every time they log in.

Edited for spelling.

Deliberate time wasting is unsporting but how are we to know that the opponent's connection is not to blame here?

I know it comes up with "Not Responding" when they lose connection but in some cases that announcement does not appear when there connection is running behind.

Is there any way to tell that they are deliberatly time wasting?
