why is it that when the shot time runs out on me i get fouled but when it runs out for my opponent they can just carry on as normal its frustrating. i really don't see the point in having it.

It's from your computer to server to your opponents computer time delay which is nornally about 2 seconds delay, could be more depending on how many people are on the server...
Seeing as your new there was a time then the time limit didn't exsist but many people wanted a time limit because some people joined a game then went and done something else leaving the game just sitting there, thats why we have a time limit.

JB just explained the situation..
The timer you see on your screen for your opponent's shot is only an indication of how long they have left. It's not exactly how long. So when it reaches 0 on your screen it may not have on theirs.
Either way, whatever the time limit is, that's how long both (or up to 10 in killer) players get to take their shots, even if it doesn't seem like it to you.
Edit: Sorry JB, we posted at the same time

Did it come up with
"(player) is not responding"
"(player) has started responding"
"(player) is not responding"
ect?
Even if that did show or not it could of been that players internet being slow or the computer being slow or he/she was just getting alot of lag.

Actually took 5 minutes?
5 minutes is a long time to sit there doing nothing...
It was more than likely the case that the connection between you two, or to the server was slow. (Or something like that, sure someone else will be able to shed more light on it)
The player probably took their shot within their time limit, but due to the delay the action only took place '5 minutes' later.
There's no way someone could have 5 minutes for each shot, and you only have 20 seconds.

^^ Thats right, the length of time people actually get to take the shot doesn't vary (yes, I know there is a thread about a bug which is sometimes shortening the time, but thats what it is, a bug, and will be fixed soon).
Never forget, they could have been sitting at the other end waiting for your shots to download and play thinking exactly the same thing.
Delays like this are out of site, or indiviuals, control. Just part and package of online gaming
