It's not hard to create a room with the name as "away from computer".

Would be much easier and more convenient to go to any chat room rather than make a room

does it really matter if your there or not? nobody needs to know you just reply to anything when you return

I agree it would be handy to have an "afk" room available for all users.

And pretty pointless to debate just how big or important the benefits would be when it has absolutely no downsides.

In my pre-mod days, I'd just create a room saying "busy" or something, turned PMs off, and that was that. I wasn't in the chat room, and anyone who wanted me could see where I was and that I was busy.

Besides the point, we get logged out of the site, And people with problems with java like me takes over half hour to get bk on the site, i think it would work,

You're going to get logged out if your in a room, so that point isn't valid.

I have only one question right now, other than mods and admins profile how many people veiw a members profile when that member is offline? Because I don't see the point in this as if your offline your away from funkypool.

We are discussing players that ARE logged in, both on the web site and the game, but who are away from the computer for a few minutes. In those cases it would be nice to be able to toggle a status (or join a game room) that lets others know the fact that you are away and therefore not responding (as opposed to now, where people often interpret lack of response as being impolite or rude)

Different people look at peoples profiles for many different reasons.

While I can't say what us mods do or do not have, members can easily go to garage, members bar or one of the guest lobby's, and now 'not at the computer' - where it is common for people to be away from the computer if they are in those rooms.

Members are logged out after 20 minutes, so during peak times, there is no overload on the server due to too many people being idle.

Close, but not quite as far as I am reading it. He is referring to the "Location" part of the player profile, where you will occasionally see online staff member's location listed as "Away from computer", "staff office" or similar. Simply because there is a chat room named that, for the purpose of letting people actually know you are not available despite being logged in.

(assuming this is not violating any "don't talk about this" rules, since it's public info on the profile pages already)

This is completely non-applicable for offline players. If you are offline you are offline - no need for any further way of telling you are unavailable in that case. The issue is when you are logged in but not at the comp


And yes Damien, seems an afk room has been created for regular users too - which is great
