Selection Process Season 10
After weeks of talks we will be arranging friendlies for each clan wishing to participate in the upcoming season.
In Season 9 all clans were automatically accepted into the league without proving interest/reliability and due to this season 9 has had a massive increase in defaults.
We have come up with this idea (Along with the new 2 month rule) to decrease the defaults and increase the interest.
On Wednesday 7th April, each clan will be draw one friendly against another clan with one week to complete.
Friendly format will be the same as a league game and will be 8 vs 8.
We (League Staff) will be looking at:
- Games being played before deadline
- Subs being made at appropriate times
- Efforts in getting games arranged/played
- Vice-captain taking responsibility in captains absence
Also defaults will NOT be a part of this!!

should there be some sort of punishment on a clan?
for example.....2 defaults in a match set proving unreliability and clan expelled?
also am not up to date on number of players in a clan.
is it 12? to try and reduce defaults could 14 players be an option?
oh i dunno but i like to get games out of the way asap and others due to other commitments find it more difficult.......
and others just dont give a damn.
will just leave it to u guys the powers that be and i'll ramble on somewhere else lol

Got to agree with allowing larger clans to help decrease defaults. Personally why should there be a limit, it is up to the clans captain to give players a game and keep there players all happy.

Gareth, there already are consequences to players losing defaults - after 2 losses they risk being excluded.
It's a good idea to consider team punishments for the same reasons though, giving the clans and their captains a larger incentive to getting games done - not just individual players.
And Keith, the only rationale behind the clan maximum is to keep the number of clans above a healthy minimum. The total pool of sufficiently active players on this site is fairly constant - the more players each team can have, the less clans there can be (or at least, the less healthy clans there can be)
I'm not at all saying the limit has to remain at the current 12, that's obviously a matter that can be debated and tweaked, just explaining the thoughts behind having a limit in the first place.

It is very welll saying by increasing players there can be less healthy clans, the problem we have is we dont have healthy clans we have clans who struggle to get all games played or that lose a couple of players and fold.
This does not help the league at all in fact it is to the detriment of it. I am sure most players that play in the league would prefer 8 teams of 16 players and all games played with no defaults and no teams folding as opposed to 12 teams of 12 with teams folding and lots of defaults like we currently have.
Team sizes should not be capped as it is the one rule that leads to more defaults and clans folding which is what we then say we dont want.

Wouldn't increasing the players in a clan bring more trouble to a Captain or Vice Captain as he/she has even harder choice on who to pick to play?

I think that's a minor concern compared to be able to get games done golden_shot
I tend to agree with Keith's points here - at least a higher cap.
We'll definitely have to consider that for season 10, along with Gareth's idea on penalizing clans for having too many defaults too, not just individual players. That would put much needed pressure on captains/vc to make sure games do get played.
A third thing to consider is to extend each of the currently 14 day fixtures to 3 weeks, overlapping with the next fixture in much the same way the FPL had toward the end. In short giving more time to get games done, yet keeping the overall season at more or less the same duration. Obviously not possible for the cup, but a good idea for the league.

Sorry can I crash the 'lets exclude all the teams' party here.
What exactly is wrong with the current setup?
If a player makes no attempt to play a match they lose by default, opposition gets the advantage and everyone should be happy?
If you exclude a team for 2 defaults you'll ruin the league and have no teams left.

ideally you want 0 defaults as defaults are often unrepresentative of what score would actually occur therefore distorting the league
but you cant leave out defaults then people would avoid games so their clan wins a match
and what about the defaults that aren't one sided?

Season 10 selection process
Tuesday 6th April
- Games will be drawn
- Each clan captain will recieve a message from me asking for their team list (Also stating who is vice captain)
