i should be in 9 ball final right now, but i hit a shot and the ball swerved and moved away from pocket, leaving them to tap in the ball and then tap in the 9 which was over other pocket...

funkypool is getting stranger everyday!

You just gotta love those swerving balls lol - just cost me couple games of killer, and as well ALL know, *I* never miss unless there is a bug with the game

Hmm

I've seen mysterious overlapping balls, and the bizarre 'turbo shot' (where the balls go at a million miles an hour), but swerve?

It's a new one on me.

I look forward to experiencing this, and gain the game bug hat-trick!

I htink nick or spinner or someone posted before that the mathematics involved provide only for straight-line movements of the balls on the table, and therefore no swerving... Haven't been able to find it though

I think its an optical illusion. I once asked that and nick said it was absolutley impossible for that to occur.

So I think its an optical illusion of some sort, something to do with parralax error or something like that.

Parralax error is when you look at something from an angle and you see a different event occuring to what actually happened.

Best example is when you are a passenger in the car and you think that the driver is speeding, when they are not - its your eyes playing tricks on you as you are on an angle.

If my theory id right here - well of course the balls will still miss or go in as per normal, but being on an angle to your screen (even slightly) may give you this effect.

It may be something like that, or it may not be and I just sound really smart now

Two simple things:

1. This game is most definitely, 100% certainly NOT intended to have any sort of swerve or otherwise add curve to ball motion.

2. From a programming point of view, adding more complexe formulae to the ball motion takes a good bit of effort and is certainly not something you do accidentally.

Add those up and I think you have your answer.

You are definitely correct on this one.

The parallax illusion happens for example when viewing a figure of a circle placed tangent inside a square. This makes the sides of the square appear curved despite this being far from the case.

In much the same way, the table options that have lamp lighting may easily introduce the same effect - the lamp highlights adds curves to the table surface, potentially messing up the perception of what is a straight line and what is not, making it harder to aim.

(and also being the reason why I'll never ever play on anything other than flat light tables as long as they exist)

it does seem a little impossible to see a ball literally Move away from a pocket - Just sounds silly tbh

It was probably just your monitor leaning a little. If your monitor isn't level the balls are bound to roll a little off course..

Seriousy though, run your monitors calibration utilities and you may find the root of the problem.

Never seen a ball swerve and I've been playing since it began. Not saying it didn't do it, just saying I've never seen it

Seen the turbo shot when the balls travel super fast a few times, tends to happen on the break more than any other time but that one definatley does happen.
