Yeah I have always been up for having an "open day" for the pro games.

They were good fun and if nick still has scripting / coding I would love to see them again

Would love to see them back for a while, they were never overly popular but I always enjoyed playing on those tables.

They were overly popular before the introduction of the us8 and us9 tables we have now and the pro tables stayed for a few months and because of lack of poularity they were removed due to server space, or so i was told.

Would be great to have them back i seemed better at 9 ball pro

That is true. The only time anyone played the pro games in large numbers were tourneys. Every second US 8 ball and 9 ball tourney was a Pro tourney (meaning each one of those in its respective game type was 6 hours after the last one and 6 hours before the next).

Why just a week or two? Bring them back for good. Once you reach pro you should have to play on the pro tables

That last part might be a bad idea, since those who prefer to play on the smaller table would simply speculate in keeping a lower rank and/or resetting whenever they need to.

Better keep it optional, like on snooker.

US 8 ball was introduced on February 3rd 2006 (one month after I became a member, incidentally). The table was much "bigger"; that is, although it took up the same space on the screen, the pockets and balls were smaller to account for this.

On March 16th 2006, 9 ball was introduced.

Then, on December 20th 2006, this happened:


So the current US 8 ball and 9 ball you see eventually ended up replacing the original, more difficult versions, which were renamed Pro.

Finally, they were removed in May 2007. According to Nick: "Pro games have been removed from funkypool - unfortunately there simply was not the demand for the games. I looked at various times recently and there was not a single person playing US Pro tables." (And if you can find that page, there's a gem of a question from madmiketyson at the bottom!!!)

I'd love to see them back permanently, however I feel this is unlikely. That's why I suggested a couple of weeks in December, as a 'christmas present' as tournaments.

Maybe it could be used as a monthly trial with a view to being re-instated fully, pending popularity amongst members.

Yes, all game achievements were transferred to the current version of the game when the pro games were removed. With the exception of rank points.

So the same could happen if it is brought back on a short term tournament basis, with all achievements going onto their respective counterparts game. Maybe.

they wasnt binned cos they was popular you 12 , im thinkin this mass of public opinion might be better directed at helpin carom on snooker cos thats gonna be just as extinct

I'd like to see the pro tables back again for atleast a short while I only just started getting used to it when they were swapped!
