Was wondering if...

there is a way to change your name on FP?

If not could there be a way created ?
like..
you had to swap say 10 points ( from ranks ) for your name change?

this just popped into my head so i thought id post it.

There's no way we could change our username
unless, its done by a admin for what ever reason.

This suggestion has come up many of times and the answer has always been no.
when i read the title.. i thought you wanted to change the name of the website... lol

No, I think once you pick your usenrame, it should be locked in.

If you kept changing your name every now and again it would become far too confusing and frustrating unless you were on the site everyday and kept track of every name change.

if you dont like your current name, you can always de-activate and make a new one.

People who somehow get their name dirty shouldn't be able to escape that by simply changing their name.

I'm sure it would be technically possible - users could easily be indexed by a number or similar (probably already are), but there are plenty obvious reasons why letting users change their name is a bad idea.

What about people who have a bad name but are trying to be good though, we all know that most people dont forgive on hear and will always hold them back for whatever reason.

I dont really agree i think to deactivate and make a new name is sufficient enough.

People will pretend to be other people if they can do that.
