i just wanna make a suggestion can we incorporate a combination shot (pot your ball and other players ball at same time) in the us 8 ball.

I feel it would be a great rule and make the game more open as everyone seems to block pockets.

Also it can get rid of the scenario were one player has the black over a pocket and your ball on top this game cant be completed.

Correct me if im wrong, but your saying that if your stripes, you can plant one of your stripes onto the black and pot the black to win?

my idea is if you have 1 ball left and the black is on a pocket you can win by potting both in the 1 shot

Why? It's just a made up rule and IMO, is quite random. If balls are tied to a black over pocket, there is ways to un-tie them, takes skill. It's also part of the game in leaving your opponent in them situations.

Is it a rule in 8ball? I've never seen that rule exist in 8ball, however if you can prove me wrong then credit to you.

im not sure if its in 8 ball but i play it for a pool team in 8 ball uk i just thought it would be a good idea its just a suggestion, a plant is completely different were im from anyway

I've played different types of 8ball rules and never come across where you can pot another ball with the black, called a foul every game I've played, and if that rule was implemented where you can pot your last ball onto the black and pot both to win then surely you could do it earlier in the game with balls still left, funny but sounds like you want make 8ball with 9ball rules.

That's exactly as how i see it.

But doing it on the last ball is like only planting the 9 in with the 8 on 9ball, which would be wierd to say the least.

then you would also need another rule for if its the black blocking the other ball which would be changing lots of rules when most people are happy with how things are

Why change a good old game just because you can't cope with the tactics? The tactical tool of blocking pockets is equally available to all, as are the remedies.

i thought it would just make the game more fun if people dont like it they dont like it its just a suggestion .

and by the way i can cope with the tactics janmb look at my stats i believe there higher than yours in 8 ball

cushion needs glasses, janmb 8 ball stats are way superior over cushions

I understand where cushion is coming from as if the black is left over the pocket with your opponents ball blocking it the only way to finish the game is by fouling......

There are some instances where skill will not let you move either ball.....

But to allow you the plant would not work IMO.....

However, maybe a re-rack option, where if both players agree then the frame is replayed.....

Maybe a button with re-rack on it and if both players hit it then the frame is re-started.....

I know someone will say about the time taken to replay a frame - but this would not be as long as constantly fouling to avoid losing the frame....

merv's suggestion is a great one - but it has been disscused before, and the feeling back then was that you should 'play the balls as they lie.'

Yep, that's how it would have to work... and how it's normally handled in most real pool games too.
