Hey. I could be of help here. Never been in a clan but got over 800 in 9 ball before a few undeserved losses. Also got tought how to play by my bro who was a virtouso in almost everything before quitting

Very good question familyguy, I really think we need to get that cleared up a lot better still in the rules.

The official clan list should, as far as I'm thinking, be the list sent to the hosts (pot_the_lot) before the deadline. That list is official and ties the players to that clan for that season. They may of course choose to quit, but they are then not eligible to play for another clan until next season.

The reason why the transfer window closes a little bit before the season actually starts is to give clans some reliability as to which players are going to play for them and who aren't. It's essentially to avoid player transfers the very last few days before the season kicks off, which would give some clans a lot of problems, having too few players etc.

I'll be updating those rules to better specify what makes a player officially bound to a clan, as well as the actually deadline for being eligible to play for other clans is not the actually start of the season but the closing of the transfer window. This is really not a change of how things work, it's a matter of forming the rules to precisely state what the intentions have always been.
