In which case in my opinion he is entitled to do that - however all of these things would, and should, be taken into account if the match is not played by the deadline.

That is just my opinion though I stress

shouldnt he have come to me and said that rather than going to league organizers and accusing me of cheating - i would have willingly put my player back in and dropped myself from the match

We are not dealing in a perfect world unfortunately mate - many different characters and personalities and ways of dealing with issues.


Back to your question I dont think you have a need to step down - and I am sure your team wouldnt want you to.

Merv is the most reliable n trusting person ive ever met, i cant belive he has been accused of cheating by this stupid sub.

You have to remember everything only ever matters if a game goes to default - having agreed then changed your mind is something that gets taken into account

Sorry for kidnappin the thread for this lol, just interesting issue, guess this is one of the weaknesses of it not havin to go thru Steph, captains can cause problems by chopping and changing. If this was last season im assuming it wouldn't have been a problem as once Steph had ok'd it the sub would be set?

Sorry just tryin to get my head fixed around this as I worry it could come up as an issue again.

To be honest I think most captains would and should be able to resolve it amicably amongst themselves.

I think the real cheating is by the person who asks for a sub, gets it and then wants it undone once he knows who he'll play.
thats basically picking which person you'd prefer to play.

I think the main thing to understand is that there has been no 'cheating' by anybody in this matter.

Substitutes are ultimately there to try and reduce the number of matches going to default. Yes you can make a tactical substitution as well if you wish but that has to be agreed by both captains, as with all use of subs. Dont forget the captain of the opposing team also has the chance to respond to what he considers a tactical sub by making one of his/her own if he/she wishes.

That's it chris, like football, if a team is 1-0 down with 10mins to go, the team trailing might stick on a 3rd striker to try and get the late goal and the other team chooses to but on an extra defender in response but at the end of the day if the other captain is not happy with the sub proposed then he can refuse it if he so wishes.
I'm all for the new sub rules as they elimate more default games which can only be good for the league

p.s. you better not be still be standing down Merv as your doing a cracking job and you have the full support of your team behind you, put it behind you mate and concentrate on the more important matter of guiding your team like you have been to winning the league. Good luck
