Well if your internet temproary goes down it takes time to come back on and will be back to normal once its connected again.

When it happens to me it usually finds the connection a couple of seconds after it has logged me out of the game.

Its not within funkypool where the problem is occuring.

No i think he might be right, it may be a certain service provider with an issue, but over the last few days i have also found i lose my connection more than ever before, my internet has been working ok on other web sites as well as funkysnooker and that is ok. When i try and read the funkypool forum it takes a long time and not always comes up! This has only happened over the last few days, i know of a couple of people that have made the same comments. Hope someone can help

I'm on Talktalk Broadband and I've got the same problem. It's normally a pretty reliable connection for me.

Id reccomend u contact talk talk and ask if they have any issues most companys have a automated service it may be they have a problem and its bein rectfied.

Have u all tried the reset router / modem option

Dont do this unless u know wot to do that i made that mistake.

If it's happening only on pool and not snooker, that's weird - I'm pretty sure Nick uses the same host for both sites. It would make sense anyway.

When it comes to connection issues toward one site and not others, that can typically be from bad routers or other equipment along the way... It's not necessarily a problem at your end - and likewise not necessarily a problem at the funkypool end either... Between your computer and this server is a number of network routers (what we call jumps). If a single one of those is acting up, it may mess up your connection while other sites may work just fine. This happens all the time and is usually fixed by the relevant service providers asap.

In order to test your connection (or find out where along the way the problem really is), you might want to try a command called traceroute.

In windows, you can open a command line using Start, Run, type in "cmd", and hit enter.

On that command line, type "traceroute funkypool.com"
(or just tracert, depending on which system you have)

This should output something similar to this:

traceroute to funkypool.com (74.52.173.242), 30 hops max, 40 byte packets
1 jansinvegg.local (10.1.1.50) 0.448 ms 0.638 ms 1.262 ms

3 cm-84.208.8.126.getinternet.no (84.208.9.126) 13.401 ms 13.798 ms 13.921 ms
4 cm-84.208.30.122.getinternet.no (84.208.31.122) 14.145 ms 14.241 ms 14.475 ms
5 cm-84.208.30.121.getinternet.no (84.208.31.121) 14.338 ms 14.648 ms 17.480 ms

13 f2.ad.344a.static.theplanet.com (74.52.173.242) 145.371 ms 145.558 ms 145.670 ms

The three numbers listed after each address is the number of milliseconds it took to get there from your computer. (three attempts for each hop)

Look for large numbers among those, or typically asterisks if timed out. The first hop showing signs of that is probably to blame. Send that IP address (found earlier on the same line) to your service provider and tell them to fix it

If everything looks ok (something like the output from above), you might want to use "ping" in the same way, leave it running over night to get a good idea of how much traffic is lost between you and funkypool.

On windows, type "ping funkypool.com /t"

(at least I think /t is the right option for continous ping, someone correct me if wrong. Otherwise it will only try four times then quit).

The output should be something like this:

PING funkypool.com (74.52.173.242) 56(84) bytes of data.
64 bytes from f2.ad.344a.static.theplanet.com (74.52.173.242): icmp_seq=1 ttl=53 time=143 ms
64 bytes from f2.ad.344a.static.theplanet.com (74.52.173.242): icmp_seq=2 ttl=53 time=147 ms
64 bytes from f2.ad.344a.static.theplanet.com (74.52.173.242): icmp_seq=3 ttl=53 time=144 ms
64 bytes from f2.ad.344a.static.theplanet.com (74.52.173.242): icmp_seq=4 ttl=53 time=147 ms
64 bytes from f2.ad.344a.static.theplanet.com (74.52.173.242): icmp_seq=5 ttl=53 time=178 ms
64 bytes from f2.ad.344a.static.theplanet.com (74.52.173.242): icmp_seq=6 ttl=53 time=146 ms
64 bytes from f2.ad.344a.static.theplanet.com (74.52.173.242): icmp_seq=7 ttl=53 time=166 ms

etc etc

When you stop it (typically with CTRL-C), you get a statistic that looks something like this:

--- funkypool.com ping statistics ---
7 packets transmitted, 7 received, 0% packet loss, time 5998ms
rtt min/avg/max/mdev = 143.565/153.475/178.101/12.269 ms

The % packet loss is the prime number you want to look at. Anything closing on 1% or more is bad.

All of these examples are made on linux so your output may look slightly different. The essential data and function of these commands are the exact same though.

Did you try "tracert" instead?

The ping test is a good one to do anyway, since it will give a good idea about the health of your connection toward funkypool. The traceroute is really just the next step, in order to learn where along the line the problem lies.

Using ping first, to establish whether or not you have a connection issue or not is a good place to start regardless.

Pinging funkypool.com with 32 bytes of data:
Reply from 74.52.173.242: bytes=32 time=144ms TTL=50
Reply from 74.52.173.242: bytes=32 time=143ms TTL=50
Reply from 74.52.173.242: bytes=32 time=144ms TTL=50
Reply from 74.52.173.242: bytes=32 time=143ms TTL=50

Ping statistics for 74.52.173.242:
Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
Minimum = 143ms, Maximum = 144ms, Average = 143ms

thats what i get
