I have just installed Ubuntu 9.04 Jaunty Jackalope and the pool game is slower than on Windows. The balls run slower on the table, and I can't seem to be able to break with the same strength as in Windows.
I cannot play as good in Linux as in Windows because of this.
What I have done until now:
- formatted hard drive and reinstalled again
- Java properly installed, here's the result:

- I also tried another distribution which I like, Sidux, but also slow.

what gfx are you using? (hardware)

I'm running the same os without any trouble, so we should definitely be able to solve this.

My video board is an Nvidia Geforce 6800, 128 MB of RAM.
It should be more than enough for this pool.
The slow behavior I've noticed is "out of the box", I mean without any modifications, and with OS installed clean.
The video driver I'm using is "NVIDIA accelerated graphics driver (version 180)" which is recommended.
I have also tried to play pool with default driver which is automatically installed at OS installation, without acceleration and it's awfully slow. Not playable. With the NVIDIA proprietary driver is better, but still not like in Windows.
