I was in straight tournament against alvinglenn and I was confortably leading 17-9 and I took a shot that was going nicely in and it completely froze.
The whole window froze but I could go on forums it then said I had logged out and even though it froze on both screens it just gave alvinglenn the win.
I could still log in I was responding the whole time. Frustrating and weird.

Its happened on snooker twice and had a couple of minor problems over here and there.
About a week ago I downloaded the latest java version and its been spot on untill then.

What do you mean by lag?
- The animation stutters or is inconsistent?
- Difficult to get correct cue power?
- Slow server connection?
For any case please give a full description.

Animation is inconsistent. balls don't run smoothly.

Does this happen for you at specific times, eg when a lot of balls are in motion? Does UK pool work better than US?

yeah nick, the animation's broken or erratic, making it difficult to control the power..plus it usually occur when im making a shot, :(

yes exactly. uk and snooker works better than 8 & 9 US. why is that?

I allways freeze its bloody annoying when your in tournment

Can you describe exactly what happens when the game freezes, a screenshot would be nice if possible.
ladysapphire, the 3D rendering of the balls in US uses more processing power than UK (which is just a plain ball). I will patch the server today with faster code. This patch generates the US balls 20% faster so please let me know if it helps.
EDIT: faster code is in place now.

lol it cant be that bad I think its probably your internet connection.
Mine has been fine till now by the way.
When it froze the ball actually stopped dead while rolling and everything else did.
I was logged in but and responding yet funkypool decided I had somehow left lol.
Therefore I was logged out even though I was there with perfect internet connection.
I could log in as usual even when I had the other screen still there.Previously on snooker when this happened it wouldnt even let me exit the page and it happened on funkypool and snooker at the same time.
Very strange I had to reboot after that.

A graphical lag or complete freezing should have absolutely nothing to do with the connection.
A bad connection may make your shots take longer to appear at your opponents' clients and vise versa, or even time you out of the game completely, but it should never make you see bad graphical performance or a hanging client. That is 99.9% certainly a local computer/software problem.
Glad to hear it's apparently fixed - I've been seeing slight hints of stuttering on the US tables myself lately - will test more tomorrow.

Increasing the frame rate from 35 to 60 frames caused this stuttering effect. This was more noticeable in US pool as the 3D rendering code was inefficient, so over the last couple of days I have been looking at improving the performance of the rendering code.
Online from today, the code for rendering a set number of 3D balls has been reduced from 2ms to 0.3ms. This is now the same amount of time to render the UK balls (which are slightly larger).
UK pool should benefit too, as it is slightly more efficient (the 8 ball uses 3D rendering).
I'm really happy with the changes (the main optimisation was a major breakthrough!) - and hope the animation is significantly smoother for everyone.
One problem people may see is that increased efficiency in this code effects the power for cue control - this is a dependency I'd like to remove.
EDIT: This thread has moved into 2 separate discussions - I've renamed the title.

Firefox?
This happens when the window is not responding, sometimes it starts responding again, sometimes it needs to be closed.
